sound regulating pipes

HI all,

francoblay1 has asked me to start a knew thread about sound regulated pipes like i have on my bike cause he means that they are in the USA unknow..

To explain the background: we have here in germany a very hard Law in case of loud pipes - the german can sing a very crazy song about it. When you drive with open pipes it can be that you are going home on feet if the police stops you.

The joke by that is: the bike must be quite at 50 km/h to 60 km/h and in the stand. All other speeds are unregulated by law.. totaly stupid.. (Ok, at the end of the day you'll drive most time open..)

So we are searching for an solution - and the resolution ist regulated pipes like the newer Harleys will have. "Sound Management".

I've got pipes n my bike that can be regulated by an adyustment lever - also while you driving. The sound can be regulated from "open Pipes" to very super quite like a new Honda.. Its also interesting for people who do warm up the bike early in the morning or so - the neigborhood won't shot you if the pipes run in the quite set up..

The pipes are from Benzl Bikes - a german company, if you will have questions feel free to ask.. at the pictures you will see how it works - there ist a mecanical part in it that closes the tube - so the exaust gases must flow the way throug the pipe attenuation - if the pipe is open it is like a open pipe. The new Harleys have a similar system here in europe..

thats true - and the problem is: the law is in Europe in all countrys more and more the same - it's European law - but the germans are at this time extreme with that.. you can do nothing aginst it - it's also the same with cars..:bang:

The last time I was on the autobahn in Austria ,all the Japanese crotch rockets flying by had louder pipes than my bulldog,I guess they must have their own $pecial law, lol:cheers:

I also got these pipes.

One prob is jetting as the backpressure is veeeeeeeery different in open/closed position.

I run my pipes only in the open position - until I see police that could be interrested in me & my bike :loony: . It's just one turn on a specially designed knob.

But I run my Pitbull with an I-pipe. That should increase torque - what they say..... But no more catalytic converters in my pipes any more :2thumbs:.

Lets put it this way,if the exhaust was the deciding factor weather or not I can ride my big dog,I would spend the money on this exhaust !!!

Yes - that's the question.

Get one of these or you'll walk home from anywhere in the country with your bike safeguarded by police.......

It's all on laws here in Germany. May be cops in spain act different.

But I think I will get rid of the I-pipe and have the pipes look like the ones of GermanK9. I hope I'll not loose torque.

BTW:
What's up with yopu 585 install, Franco?

I will document all the upgrades with lots of pics.... I will be very busy, it will not be the cam only.. I have a looong list and lots of parts to install. :2thumbs:

Here is the cam... sitting in my backpack together with a TH programmable Ignition module and shit loads of other parts :D

2013 MV Agusta Brutale RR, 158 hp, 183 kg and the race kit wit ECU and decatted pipes lying in my garage :D . But have to break in the engine before installing the race kit...........

Lots of corvettes come with valves in their exhaust. Even the exhaust maker dynomax makes a muffler with a valve in it, called th vt.

Yes - Porsche and Ferrari do it also this way..

it's to reduce the exhause noise by the speed thats defined in the german law..

in my opinion its completly bullshit - but it's the law..

@germanbiker: you won't loose torqe when you're driving the exhaust open.... :)))))))

i drove my second bike today too... what a different to the dog. Completly differnt to ride.. (no wonder while the kawa has around 230 HP with the setup i've installed - and it's still loud too)
