Sorry Folks, been away awhile,

Things are begining to calm down a little around here, by the grace of God. I even let my tags expire on the ole scooter, which I renewed last week, still on the table though :). Work has been good this year, settling down a little now.
One thing I really accomplished while I have been away. I lost 42 lbs. in 5 weeks, from 257 to 215 cutting out the crap I was daily eating. I had gotten into a habit of 3 or 4 snickers bars for energy a day, sweat tea, etc. , etc. After my brother in law loss his battle with cancer my wife made me go get checked out, thinks I might have sucked down a couple snickers bars that day as well,, blood sugar, etc. The Dr prescribed me metformin ,,,It pissed me off at myself, and I went cold turkey of processed sugars, sweet tea, and cut as many carbs out as humanly possible. I researched it to death, the body does not need any carbs to survive ever! Potatos , French fries Gone!!!!!! Candy bars gone!!! Processed crap as much as possible Gone!!!!
I got a yeti cooler that holds about a quart and I drink distilled water, filtered water period!!!
I did start a regular smoothie thing , two a day. One when I get up, and one at break at work, at break with about 10-12 low sodium olives and steamed baby carrots. My lunch time is around 8 in the morning I do a sandwich "one" carb bread, with whatever my wife puts on it, a serving of chopped walnuts, and I drink lots of water. For a daily sweet treat , my wife makes a pie with regular graham cracker crust, no sugar added chocolate pudding, no sugar added cool whip on top, with chopped walnuts on top. a piece of that daily. And I was almost daily doing a small sip of apple cider vinager , chasing it with a smoothie swallow,,, that apple cider with mother's is nasty, but a great for your system. I had put 7 extra holes in my belt to keep my pants up when It finally broke when I was making a new hole. { New belt, much smaller!}

The ninja makes the smoothies better than a regular blender, and I had rather have one of those than a $5 chocolate milkshake, great energy, taste great, looks weird but great stuff!

Recipe for the Smoothie:

8 oz unsweetened almond mild
1 cup chopped kale, fresher the better, sometimes we use spinach with it too
half a small cucumber
1 four oz. cup diced mango no sugar added
1 four oz. cup diced pineapple no sugar added
1/8 of a cup chopped walnuts
A dash of ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. of stevia sweetener
crushed ice to fill it up :)

I am keeping the weigh within a lb or two daily, no drugs, no extra exercise,, I work in the heat, and sometimes outside in the baking heat. Read the labels of the stuff your eat, and watch the fat people in the stores getting stuff that is keeping them fat, stay way from it. a little persistence and you'll get new clothes and a new belt. This really works! Stay away from yogurt too! Do your research before you eat it!

God Bless you all,
later ,
Ray

That's awesome! Keep it up. Soft drinks and sweet tea are abdomen stretchers. I know several people who only cut those out, no other diet, and lost lots of weight.

Congratulations Ray.... I have been doing a lot of soul searching and reminiscing as well lately regarding my health. Twenty years ago at 40 I was in the best shape of my life with 5% body fat. Not so much at 60! I spent the day yesterday with my 30 year old son, my Mom who is 88 and my daughter who turned 18 and will be heading to Belmont University in Nashville next Saturday. I made a conscious decision to get back in shape so my journey begins. I hope to experience the same success you outlined!

That’s awesome Ray! I have been doing keto with intermittent fasting and have dropped from 278 to 210 lbs in 6 months, sound like your diet is pretty much the same thing, glad your back.

Great job Ray, your health is the most important thing. I live a low carb lifestyle as well, only drink distilled water and practice intermittent fasting 2 to 3 times a week. The less you weigh the faster your bike goes...lol :)

Glad to hear you're on the right path Ray. I have dropped about 10 pounds in the last 9 weeks by cutting the carbs and a little more exercise. Just had an annual physical and the doctor gave me a big ole pat on the back. I guess for 68 I'm doing ok.

Welcome back, good for you. Diet is 90 percent of being fit, I have always tried to maintain a healthy eating lifestyle especially as I get older. I have reduced drinking to about one day a week, sometimes 2 days but I feel allot better.
Good to hear from you
