I know we have been plagued with slow load times and that the forum just isn't as responsive as it once was. I've been in talks with the hosting company, as well as doing research... I think the bottom line is we have reached the end of life with our current forum software, and it's time to upgrade. Our servers are routinely upgraded and it looks like that maybe a contributing factor.
So, here's the plan going forward... I'll be testing the new software because we are making a big change, new software from the guys that originally created our current software, many moons ago. These guys went out on their own a few years back and started their own company. I've been a license holder to this software when they launched it a few years back.
Fast forward a few years and the software is clean and cutting edge, the community support is high and there are plenty of add-ons available. We can pretty much duplicate what we have now, with the gallery and garage, and have a faster, cleaner and cutting edge forum again.
Here's the catch, this will still be a learning experience for me, and the staff. What we'll need is your patience as we get this all together.
My goal is to get this upgrade completed by the weekend. I'm sure there will be glitches during my testing, and eventually, the relaunch. The look will be a little different, but I'm working on an additional "style" to mimic the look we currently have.
So, what this means for you... not too much, I just need you to grin and bear it for a few more days. There maybe times I have to close BDB, but I'll try to do those tasks when traffic is low.
