The surgery was a success. Basically textbook. quad bypass. Got done a bit earlier than expected cause it went so well. He didn't even require any blood transfusion. I visited him shortly after he got out... within about 2hrs he was fadin in and out of conciousness. He would look at ya and could nod to your questions and stuff.. all within 2hrs of coming out of his surgery. It was amazing. We're all so proud of him..

Then last night about midnight 30 he was totally out of his meds and was totally awake and aware and could move everything. So they removed his ventalator and the tube that goes in the back side of his heart to monitor something.

This morning he was out of his bed and in his chair. I couldn't go see him cause I'm at work and they have strict visiting hours. But we're real proud of him and his progress. He's a oxe for sure minus the whole bad arteries thing.. but that's fixed now. We're very blessed that he's still with us.

He still has a long road to recovery and I'm sure a painfull one.

Thanks to everybody's warm wishes and prayers. The family really appreciates it...

The only riding I have been doing other than Monday is to the hospital. Father in law had a massive heart attack monday afternoon and died at the house... mother in law had to do CPR till the parametics got there... then they took over and even had to use the paddles on him. He's back with us now and being his old self... been visiting him and taking care of my 12 yr old little brother in law this week and probably thru next week. Scheduled for a quad bypass Friday.... not a good week....
Whoa....that sux. Hope everything goes well.

Well 8.5 days after it all began and only 3.5 days after his quad bypass.. he's home. Simply amazing. He's in good spirits and will start his recovery tomry. About 6 weeks worth!

It just amazes me how a body can go through all that trauma and still recover so quickly! Great news, GM!

It really is amazing. Sure he's a bit cranky but wouldn't you be if they opened ya up like a stuffed turkey, pulled your motor out, did a plumbing job on it and put it back in!! Plus the guy is use to his routine and working and he hasn't been able to and won't be able to go back to work for 6 weeks according to the doc. We'll see if he sticks to that.

My Dad did a quadruple about 10 years ago and was back to work in less than 6 weeks. Good luck to your Pops in Law and your family.

Chris, Glad to hear your father in law is doing well.

Wish him a happy fathers day from all of us.

My pops had a triple bypass (may have been a quad, can't remember for sure) done 13 or 14 years ago. He was forced to retire after the heart attack... it was weird but he was at his 20 year point on his fire department and he had to retire after he got better. I know he really misses the fire house but at least he's still kickin'.
