Some Big Dog Garage Art

Hey guys thought I'd share my little project. Now before any bashing, I just started using an airbrush a week ago, just bought my first one to see what I could do. This is my second attempt at a realistic style flames, first try was too yellow the layout wasn't very good. This time I'm starting to get the hang of it but still a ways to go, I figured I'd add a little something to this second try. I'm sure you guys can appreciate it, . This is just done on black posterboard with water based auto-air colors. I'll start playing on metal sheets once I get better.

Let me update this first post in case you don't want to go through the whole thread. Its now been 2 months of messing around with an airbrush, mainly on weekends and here is a revised Big Dog sign I just finished up,getting better. Next is to get some metal sign blanks and paint up a nice on for the garage.

Thanks guys, want to get good enough to paint my Chopper down the road. I painted my last Softail and my 72 Duster in my garage and they came out good but that was just solid colors. Want to do something cool for the Dog so I figured I'd give it a shot, I've done some hot rod flames on a few things around the garage but never anything like this. Funny thing is, I have no artistic talent as far as drawing! Just gonna keep painting flames all winter till I got it down.

Looks like you are getting the flames quite well. True fire flames take some time to get the right look. I know, I spent weeks working on them making many templates and watching videos. Keep up the good work and it will get better with each attempt.

Thanks again guys for the encouragement, I hope to keep improving, gotta get the idea of hot rod flames out of my head when doing these. And I plan on having everything in my garage flamed by the time I'm done. Also good idea about getting a cheap set of tins, can never tell till you do the real thing, I'll have to keep my eye out!!!
