Sold the Dog.....

Milco

The Flying Dutchman
Hi guys, I am sorry to inform you that I have sold my K-9. The reasons are that I still had a little fear to ride it :bang: (can present myself tougher but that is not so), all the roundabouts and speedbumps in Holland and my wife who felt my little insecurity when riding with me as a passenger on the Dog.
So the decision was made. I have sold the Dog to a very enthousiast dutchman and will push him to become a member of this site also!
I will go back to a Touring Model, a FLHTCUSE. Still have mixed feelings but riding a bike with a little insecurity is not good.
Thank you guys for all the help and information that you have given :2thumbs::2thumbs: me and I will staying visiting this forum!:flag:
Ride safe:cheers:

It is a combination Joe. In Holland you hafe every 2 miles a round about on secundary roads....and I was scared for getting rain while riding to a meeting.

So, as I understand it, you'll still have to travel those very same roundabouts and still need to be concerned about the rain but from now on a Harley instead of a Big Dog? And this will make you (and the Mrs.) feel more secure?
I only ask out of curiosity and just trying to understand. Forgive if I seem "thick".

Ho problem Joe, I have had a Road King before the K-9 and that was very easy to handle. I know an Electra is also easy to handle. I had troubles with the K-9 to get her in the right way to take curves. Friends of mine who are riding a K-9 and AIH does not have that fear and ride their bikes like Tourings.

Now I begin to understand. K9s and Ridgebacks handle a lot different than the Harleys. I can certainly understand going into a roundabout every couple of miles and the amount of planning one needs to negotiate getting into and out of them. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Don't be a stranger around here, come back and visit often. A lot of guys are very knowledgeable about H-D bikes too.

Sorry to hear that you sold the K-9, but glad that you still continue to ride. As we've always said, it don't matter what you ride, just have fun...:2thumbs:

Not a bad call at all Milco, I bought my wife a learner bike and she never felt comfortable or confident in the ride so I encourage her to just ride with me. Plan to sell it sometime soon. Confidence and comfort is definitely a big deal on the two wheels. By the way your new bike is a little awsome itself. Once a BigDogBiker always a BigDogBiker. :2thumbs:

not enough time 4 riding
Milco,

you made the right choice going to a motorcycle on which you will feel more comfortable and then having your wife being more comfortable as a passenger. Glad to hear that you will continue riding, even if you took a step down in class going to one of the Harley Screamin' Eagle models. You will miss the power and the attention that the Big Dog attracts but the Harley touring models are really comfortable.
