Took bike for a 200 miles ride yesterday. Sneezed a few times and cut off when pulling off several times.....smoking came up from carb. Other times, when crusing at 60 at 200 rpms it always spits through carb. Have read Gas mans carb setting post but just trying to understand the rich/lean on a bike.

Oppss!!!!! not sure about jets.........just recently bought bike. Air cleaner is stock. Vance and Hines ground pounders for exhaust and no other mods that I am aware of. I did change plugs last week. I think it was the front plug that was a little black but back plug was gray..........seems to always spit(sneeze) at the same rpm at any gear. Worse up a big hill in high gear at 2000 rpm. gotta give it more throttle to get past the "bad spot' in the throttle. When I pull off, barely revving throttle, it has sneezed a few times and actually cut off 4 times yesterday.

Well first you could fatten the excelerator pump a little to give you more fuel when you hit the throttle and you might see what intermediate jet you have and go up a size.

Also check your plugs to see if they are white or appear to be lean this to could help with knowing about the jets

did you read my update posts? Thanks for help by the way
It appears you may not want to do the work needed to correct this issue because you still haven't answered the questions put to you.

WHAT SIZE ARE THE JETS IN THE CARB???

If you don't know how to find that information maybe you should be asking that question in additional to your others.

To get to the INT Jet, which seems to be the issue here, you need to remove the bowl off the carb to access it and it just screws out. If the bike is running lean get the next size up from whats in the bike.

A lot of us have gone through this same "hiccup" when the rpms are somewhere around 2200-2500. Drove me crazy! Found this forum and went up a couple of sizes on the intermediate jet to a 31. Never had that hiccup again. Very likely your problem too. It's a 3 beer procedure. Jets are fairly cheap too!

Thanks Brad. Are the jets numbered? I know its a stupid question but Im familiar with cars..........new to bikes.

Yes, they are numbered. Just drop the bottom of your carb to access the intermediate. I think there is a "how to" on here for that.

I was walking in your shoes not so long ago......actually, I still am when it comes to something different. Never seem to finish learning from this bunch on this forum.

JJ, I'm just 50 miles north of Gulfport. Are you that far south? Just making fun of myself. If you want to read what a Chicago transplant to the south sounds like, read some of Rubwhore's posts. The south shall rise again. Till then, we'll keep riding our dogs 12 months a year.
