RIDE IT HARD!!!
OK call me the village idiot if you want,:loony: :loony: :loony: but what is the secret to getting the dust covers off the sliders on my 04 chopper???:bang: :bang: :bang: I've been trying to break them loose with a strap wrench in prep of servicing my front end and can not get them to loosen up, short of damaging them with a pipe wrench. Any HELP or suggestions would be welcomed.

Your's probably haven't been off in some time. Clean the cover with windex or similar then the inside band of the strap wrench. This should help with the rubber grip on the chrome cover.

You should be taking them off regularly (if you ride a lot) and cleaning them out. They will fill up with water from rain or washing.

When you re-install them use anti-seize on the threads.

When my bike went in once for a fork seal replace, they could not get mine off. They had to use a pipe wrench and destroy them both because they said some bikes had Red Loctite put on them and were not supposed to.

BDM replaced them at their cost.

Yours are probably Loctited on. Put some heat to them with a good heat gun and get them good and hot, they should let go!!!

Thanks Ray:2thumbs: I wiped the covers and the wrench down with brake cleaner and with some real force, was able to get them loose. :) Now I can move forward on my front end service.
