Slam Starter Button

Energy One

Okay, I am in the process of trying to figure out what is leaking on the primary side. So, for step 1 I removed the starter. I will replace the O-ring and re-install. But I think it is going to be the gasket or seal between the primary and the transmission.

While the starter if off, I will replace the end cap with one of the slam button ones. I had purchased it about a year ago from WSW. Here's the thing, I dug it out and if I recall correctly, there was a spring with it. Well, I can't find the spring. Does anyone know what size spring goes with it? Can I got to Ace Hardware of Home Depot and get the right size?

Also, where would I get the seals / gasket, that goes between the transmission and primary? Would there be any other things, gaskets, O-rings, clips, etc. I would need to complete this repair? While I have never undertaken a repair like this, I think it is something I can do if I know where to get the right replacement parts.

Thanks for any help or insight on this project.

Do a bit of searching through recent posts. I saw something about silicone being applied somewhere in the housing that fixes this problem of oil getting into the starter.

Well, I will be sending the Captain an email to see if they are up and running yet. I do need exhaust gaskets, an exhaust stud, O-ring and a few more things.
