Slam button for emergencies, bump start, in third, dump clutch and hit start button at same time to hit compression releases.

Ya, jump starting a bike with a couple of guys with hangovers is tough as we stumble and fall while pushing, bad scene and funny. The push button on the starter may be easier.

I know the 117 is a big v-twin, but can you push start these big dogs like I watched others do with Harley's?
U will not push start the bike I dont care what gear u have it in it will skid maybe if pulled by a car and u slam ur ass down on the seat it may start then. Not recommended

That's why you hit the start button, to trip the compression releases. Unplug your green starter wire and try it, 3rd gear, it'll start.

Not mine my compression releases are wired to 2 relays when the key is turned on

Bigdog got me the diagram 1 relay turns them on and 1 turns them off after engine is started

well, mine (efi) is wired to the EHC and that's what's shown ion the 2008 Manual for both carb and efi.
I'd really love to see the wiring illustration they sent you -- very curious. Post it or send me a PM if you can, please.

It would only require 1 relay, in that case. Like Mike said, let's see the diagram. You have me curious too.

well I can understand 2 relays -- can easily use one to disconnect the power to the other.
One is triggered by key on, second would have to be triggered by a "signal/power source showing the engine is running." Much easier to wire with starter button!

But it wouldn't be the first time some one over engineered a simple problem, but in this case I don't know. Once you go from the EHC there is no need to use an off relay -- can easily be handled by the circuit without that.
