Anyone know where I could find a bdm sissy bar backing plate (bdm flame)and pad for 2006 Mastiff. bdm # 223-000016-01 and #220-00211. Mine fell off due to vibration despite being recently tightened. Thanks.

I know it doesn't help finding a new piece, but the same thing happened to me. I went to the local nickel ads and placed a reward ad for the return. Got a call from a guy the day it ran. Drilled & tapped a small hole for a stainless allen head in the back of the sissy bar right below one side of the backing plate. Good luck.

If you get another plate; What I did was to use 3M double sided auto trim tape on the chrome backing plate where it meets the sissy bar and on the pad where that meets the sissy bar. Before you stick the tape, clean surfaces with alcohol. Also, blue Locktite on the bolts.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack, but would that tape work for sticking a tail-gate trim piece back on? Don't want it to fall off again.

Like nine lives said above, When you find one, be certain to add a strip of double sided tape beteen the backing plate edges where they contact the sissy bar. a very cheap fix for the loss of a sissy bar pad and plate. I can't take the credit for knowing that one, I learned it here. Several folks have been through the same loss. :2thumbs:

I have lost two and just a few days ago I went to Dennis Kirks and for $49 I picked up a generic (it is their aftermarket round sissy bar pad) pad that came with a chrome backing plate. The plate is all chrome, but it actually fits better that the BDM one did.

Goofy, yes the tape will work for the tail gate trim piece, very strong holding power. Saw some other tape product made by Locktite but could not find in any store, probably have to go on line.
To you guys that lost the plate, did the plate do any damage to the paint on the fender?

drilled and taped mine. was leaving and it fell of in the driveway..lucky huh. no more worries with drilling aqnd tapping :2thumbs:

Thanks for all the help and ideas. I really appreciate it. I am a long time member, love the forum and watch it everday. Even though I don't post much, I find this place so helpful.

In response to the question, when the pad went off it left two good marks in the paint where the metal plate hit the fender. That was the worst part of the whole thing.

Good advice by all. I like the idea and the link to the other aftermarket plate and pad. If anyone has any other ideas on where I could find the bdm version, let me know. I am watching e bay but not much there.

Mastiff, that's what I afraid of when I mounted mine, falling off that is. I bought mine used, when I mounted it I thought damn that's not a very snug fit. So I thought maybe it comes with tape new. Had that trim tape hanging on my "wall of fix" so why not have piece of mind. Also thought about the tapping the bar, but thought the tape would be sufficient and less visible.

I was just at BlackDog Motorcycle in Harrisburg yesterday to buy just the backing plate and they still have one there but it has the maltese cross on it, and it is for the 12" or 18" sissy bar.
