Okay, who's installed a sissy bar on their Pitbull? I'm looking to put one on the bike, but can't seem to find a "kit" that bolts on. Anyone have one on? If so can u post some close up pics or part numbers so I know what to order?

hey Art
I have an 03 Pit and never had any luck finding an aftermarket sissybar. Local BDM dealer wanted $795 for a strut and bar system....figured they were smokin some good crack or something...found a local frame builder who's going to build me a custom bolt on for $250. I have my appointment next week to drop off my bike for 1 day so he make up the sissybar...I will post some pics when the project is completed.

Bdm does not offer a sissy bar/strut set up for the 02-03 pitbul. You gotta go one off.

I think that you could buy a harley set up. I had just seen one here recently. Call Rayn at Gateway bigdog here in the Stl. He will guide you in the right direction. 314-291-6333. Tell em Mikie sent ya. Oh and by the way Ryan went to school with us too. He is a year or two younger than me though.

Bill! That's what I was going to do, I had asked around and no one seemed to be able to tell me if BDM made one! I guess I'll have it fabbed up, I'd def. be interested in some pics and how it was attached onto the strut assy!
Pigpen,
Thanks dude, that's what I was wondering! I'll have to be a guinea pig along with Bill!

Nice Pen,
Did you have the strut made or did you do it? I don't have machines for much metal work, I do have a good friend who is an underwater oil rig welder so I could probably buy some round bar stock and bend and cut the round bar, but it's attaching it to the strut that I'm trying to figure out! Hmmm.

Are there no kits for any year pitbull? I'm looking to have a sissy bar made but assumed that the mounting kit was just a stock item. :job: I've got a couple of friends that are good with fabbing up stainless. Making one may be the way to go. Won't cost me anything either. If I do, I'll post a pic here. I like the pics posted with the bar going into the end of the fender support, but with a sissy bar bag, will it hold up? If I can draw it on paper, these guys can cut it with plasma.

I built the bar myself and a old friend of mine machined the struts. The bar is removable like the newer dogs. Good luck with your project.:D

Bdm started offering sissy bar packages in 04 they do have a strut setup for your bike. I think all the 05 model year bikes had the bar enter the strut from the rear

That doesn't look real strong, but the pic is small and I can't see much of it. I'll look around but I think making my own is the way to go. Got a cool design for a sissy bar. I'll post it when I finish. Later

cool guys, some nice ideas! I think I would probably rather fab it up and make it something unique, BDM makes great accessories but I feel like I own a Ferrari when I see prices on some of the stuff! Lol

No Ferraris here man. This is Lotus parking only!

Lol! I wouldn't own a Ferrari anyway, I like to be able to drive or ride my stuff regularly not fix it regularly!
