Simple Green question?

I think I saw someone saying that S&S just used Simple Green cleaning the motors. I had never used it before so I got some and tryed it on my wheels on the truck and it seems to do a good job on them, cleans up well and all, but before I spray the motor on the scooter down to "Really, Really" try to get it back to the best looking condition, Well, I thought I would ask?
I think from what it did on my Aluminum wheels on the truck it will do a very good job, but trying not to Assume anything since I have the scooter really starting to like it should look.

It works pretty good. I use it to but make sure that you get it all off during rinsing other wise you will get a tiny bit of streaking when it dries up. other then that its's all good Ray.

I use that stuff on everything. Just make sure that the surface is not hot and do not use in sun. Rince off really well like Oscar said. Takes grease and oil right off.

dilute the simple green with water and get a spray bottle to apply. Back in Hawaii I also used one of those water filter spray guns [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Clean-AutoDry-System-Starter/dp/B0006M56CE]Amazon.com: Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash System Starter Kit: Automotive[/ame]. To dry the bike I use a shammy and my shop vac set on blower to remove the excess water. another little washing trick is: use plastic grocery bags and try to cover the wheel bearings/battery cover/hand controls/speedo and any other places you don't want water getting into with the sprayer. Works pretty good for me.

You all will think this is crazy but I have only washed it once, when I first got it because it was in a real funky state of mind from previous owner. I have been hand wiping it down after riding it, never ride in the rain either if I can help it. I am thinking about getting one of those jet blowers where I can wash it and dry it off, I have a back pack blower but that is for grass and stuff ,.

Most scoots don't have anything on them that are anodized, but if you do, don't use simple green on those parts.

Water has never touched my BD and never will. I read too many people having problems after washing their bikes. Wizards detail spray and a little elbow grease is all my dog sees.

I agree with the water never touching the bike but when I wash the bike I feel like a doctor getting prepped for surgery brain surgery LOL.. I use the water on the low spray setting every place I don' want water to touch is bagged off!!

and If i showed you the bike the day I bought it to what i have done with it you could not even tell it was the same bike.. ELBOW Grease and a dremel didd it..

Wow!!! That makes me feel much, much better knowing I am not the only one that is " Phycho Weirded" out by the "WATER" on the scooter thing. I don't mind the elbow grease thing wiping it down either, kinda phycotic about that too. I had actually planned on spraying the simple green on a rag, warm water in a spray bottle to wipe it off, and ma-tick-u-us-ly wiping the engine down. I have the rest of it looking really, really good after trying to get it back from where previous owner didn't take care of it at all, A "Rescue Dog" if you will . My wife wants to rescue every stray dog she sees or hears about, so that is where my dog came from,"Rescue Dog" and very thankful, feel blessed to have it! Thanks, folks for your advice on the simple green.
