Picture Of The Week

Published by Cyril Huze March 25th, 2011 in Builders, Customs, Editorial and Events.
Like many I am on Twitter exchanging 140-character limit tweets with many friends and followers belonging or not to the motorcycle industry.
Yesterday, Jesses James tweeted this image of the West Coast Choppers sign being removed from the roof of his ex Long Beach shop closed since October 16, 2010.
Jesse sent this image with the following tweet. ”This picture just makes me really sad. It just hits home that it is really over. End of an Era…”
It makes me sad too because the decade 1995-2005, although full of excesses, was also a beautiful business period for many of us belonging to the custom motorcycle industry. An exceptional time with an explosion of creativity and the acknowledgment by the public at large of our profession. Most of us being now baby boomers, and the economy being what it is, most of us will probably never live again during our lifetime such a booming professional decade. Sadness and nostalgia just hit me too…

Another round please
I wonder who now owns that sign. I agree, we may never see the economy again like it was in my lifetime. I am 50 now.

Hated to see that!!!! He IMHO was one of the most creative builders that led a lot of the trends that ended up in the industry. Cisco Burger is still open and I believe he's about to open a second one but I forget where. He is doing a lot of metalsmithing, infact there is a show coming on soon that will chronicle a trip he took to Israel to work with a world famous metalsmith. He is in Austin and working with Austin Speedshop which I believe he has had interest in for a long time. They built a bunch of his cars over the years too. He says he's going to continue doing something. He also tweeted a picture of a bike frame in a jig with a motor mocked up in it the other day. Here is a cool blog he writes and it talks about a lot of crazy stuff one of which was his decision to shut down WCC.

AL is correct, I just flew back from Texas with him and Kat over the past Christmas break. I had my last motor machined by speedshop, they do damn good work. I was amazed by all the Hemi blocks that were laying around. Lots of money...:D

thanks for the link to his Blog....I love this comment! So fitting for Harley Owners

"As I was standing there in the bar doorway admiring my new creation parked out front. One of the Harley dorks comes up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder and says “Don’t worry bro sometimes I wish I had one like that” in a snide voice. I turned around and ripped back. “You stupid fucker I did that on purpose”. Ho stood there shocked. I probably should have just said thanks"
