Side Cover Removal

Ok, I'm sure this easy....but ol' man me hasn't figured it out yet. How do you take off the horse shoe shaped plastic cover the covers the electrical stuff on an 08 k9? Does it just snap off?
Thanx in advance.

Two bolts per side under the seat, remove them (1/2 inch I think) and then slide them down and out. The bottom are on a slide on pin. I'd tape them up with some painters tape so you don't scratch them on the front by the head and exhaust side.

You need to remove the seat and pull out the 2 pins ( thats the way it is on my 2006 K-9 with the updated side covers) in the rubber bushings, lube first with some WD-40 to get the pins out, then slide down over the pin at the bottom front of the cover. For the right side you may have to remove the exhaust pipes, if you have big radius pipes.

Got an 08 K-9. Take the seat off, there are two push pins on each panel that fit in rubber gromets on the panel from the top pull the pin up. Were to two halfs come together in the front on the bottom there are two pins (not push just centering) one on each half. The panel has the rubber gromet on it to center it self.

The brake side panel comes off first and the shift side second CAREFULLY:2thumbs:

That's a no on the belt guard. Follow the above. There are Two push pins per side plus the centering pin in front on the bottom.

Is the procedure the same for an '09 Ridgeback? I do not see anything obvious and the bolts I do see look like they are for the battery pan...

Thanks,
Doug

If it's the same as an '06...
#15 are aluminum push pins and if they haven't been removed before they will cover out hard.
I used WD40 with the red spray tube to lube them up first and make removal easier.
Clean up the parts after removal.
Hope that helps.

The pic MadMarx has looks to be how it is on mine as there are just bolts for the battery tray. Is it possible to get to the battery strap bolt without removing the side panels...

Thanks for the help,
Doug
