I changed my engine oil the other day and this is what i found at the bottom of my catch pan of used oil, it is a 07 Mastiff with only 10234 miles on it. If you cant tell from the pics that is aluminum shavings

Might be OK

Not real big hunks:up:

Depending on how many oil changes and how thorough they were these might be left over from assembly/manufacturing.

If there are no other issues I would suggest a thorough flush (see posts on getting out the last of your dirty oil) maybe even using plain (cheap) motor oil, re-fill and riding real gentle and then change again after a couple hundred miles to see if there are any more *sparkles*.

Hopefully it's just some stuff that didn't get flushed out before.

Happy Motoring!

Might not be as bad as it looks. Try adjusting the pushrods to see if that clears the lifter noise. Flush as mentioned is a good idea as well. Next time, run a magnet through the bucket to see if anything sticks -- the aluminum is a lesser worry that other ferrous metals showing up.

If you still have your old oil filter you could cut it open and check how much debris is in it. There are always some flakes found in the filter.
