Dont think jakes the one who asked.......jakes a business man and expenses will dictate price... like always there has to be a profit....isn't that why we all do what we do?????/ any way depending on how things are goin At home I want one real bad.....so the later the better....
Exactly... I'm just trying to see if a run was done on these caps, would Jake be able to sell them for a price that would be fair and profitable. Remember these caps will only fit on the Dogs.

Seavee...I do know what they sold for last time and I do know what the cost was per unit.

I would be willing to pay upwards of $150.00 for the tribar cap

As for the tri-bar, I have been looking around and found some on other websites, etc.. They seem to retail for around $100.00

A Harley replacement made in China you could probably get for $100 but the threads on these Big Dog Caps only fit BDM bikes. So I can't expect to sell them to any other market.

Just for all you guys info...

It looks as though most of you have anticipated paying about $100-$50 for a custom gas cap.
These gas caps are built to outlast the bike. No plastic, 100% billet T6 aircraft grade aluminum and replaceable O-rings, and High grade triple chrome plated.

Back when I ran these caps years ago, I was selling the Mini Spiked cap for $199 (won't do this one this time around), the Sprocket spiked style was $225 and the tri-bar was $249, all three in chrome.

Problem now is, aluminum costs have gone up, chrome plating costs have gone up, and now it is costing me more hourly to pay machinist to do the parts.

I can tell you now that I can NOT sell these caps at those old prices, it is not even worth it for me to invest $10,000 in running these to tie that amount of money up for the 1 year time frame it will take to sell them all and not make enough to justify it. There are many other investments I would rather work on that will profit me more money.

At this point I am still pricing vendors for material and chrome but it looks like price points around $250-300, but trying to better that. It is looking difficult and at those prices and I am trying to still decide if it is even worth tying up all that money... for so long... for such little mark up.

That is where I am at this point.

Ok, for all the trick shit that I have on my bike I pretty much hate looking at that cheap shit ugly gas cap that it came with ( my opinion in case you love yours ) I would not object to paying 250-300 for a one off piece off chrome billet aluminum so if you do a run I will definitely commit to buying.

Nothing is cheap on these bikes and by no means am I rich but if I wanted a lost in the parking lot kind of bike I would have kept my old one (not gonna drop any dimes)! I hope everything works out and you are able to do a run of the 3 bars at least!

BMRIDGEBACK thanks for all your efforts so far hopefully you can make it happen.

Jake, I will take another Tri bar. I purchased one of your last ones and love it.

Just a thought...this might be considered lame but I couldn't stand it any longer and stock gas caps are dime a dozen, so if you want to be different & dress one up cheap just find something like this at a local auto parts store or order something that would give you an exclusive look by searching emblems online. You can always do like I did for a temporary fix until finding a better one. Oakley sent this to me and I think they can be bought for under $10. I cleaned my cap real good with alcohol and used Plumeria to attach it. (or a thick clear epoxy that wont run before it hardens) Maybe use an alternative novelty item if you're like me and want something different than what anyone else may have.
