If you are your own mechanic it's fine.
I'm not, as a matter of fact when I pick any kind of tool women hide there children, so it has cost me thousands to maintain.
Like they've all said and I agree when you get on your dog you forget about the problems, but I ride mine and have 40,000 miles on it.
I live about 20 minutes from the Hoover Dam and go there a couple of time a month and I find it amazing how my bike is as big of an attraction to tourists as the dam is.:bang::up:

First of all, thanks for everyone's input.

I went ahead and threw down for my first Big Dog. Found a pretty good deal for an '03 Bulldog. I thought that i'd primarily go the Harley route when I first started to ride. They make a good bike but too much of HD stuff says Made in China/Taiwan. Would be nice if Big Dog could find a way to open their doors back up. We need another good USA maker.

Love my chopper also, everyday is like Christmas morning! Can't wait to get out and ride even if it is just out for a short ride around town.

I bought my big dog last summer after wanting one for years. I put maybe a thousand miles on it, and when i bought I knew it had a few issues. I put good money into it and didnt think twice. Heres the thing, I knew if I sat anything HD made next to it (unless it'd been stretched with a 26 inch front wheel) I'd absolutely regret starting my motorcycle everytime I started it. SO I bought a big dog, and it's so loud its very illegal...And I love every broken neck I cause on the road...I'm keeping chiropractors in business here in Des Moines, with as many people that turn too quickly to look. AND its comfortable..

I'm jumping in on this band wagon. My bike is a perfect example yhea back bone broke on me I didn't know it. Driving it put stress on the neck and broke the neck. But you know what my heart was into the bike and I had the entire frame re done to my satisfaction from a professional frame builder. Then I rebuilt it the way I wanted it. I put Harley Davidson color coded wiring in the bike and built it from ground up with things that I desired. Which if you look in my garage it shows everything that I put into the chopper to the point I have over $100,000.00 into it most of being probably labor charges cause I'm not knowledgable about motorcyle mechanics but in process of I'm learning as they went along and now have learned a lot about taken care of my own shit so I save a lot of money. So my suggestion is you like it buy it and fix it way you want it there nice bikes.
