Showing no oil pressure!

Ok just installed an oil pressure gauge in the fitting where the tappet screen was to be ( long story but there is not one there). S&S 117 EFI on my 2007 Bulldog. Oil was just changed, at correct level. Oil light was coming on once and a while that is why I put the gauge on. Second gauge, though first one was bad, but... Any suggestions? Bike is running great.

No PSI at all or at idle?
Was the tappet screen clean when the oil was changed?
What type of gauge?

nothing at all. First one was an Arlene ness, and this one is an automter? Oil was clean when changed. Have fitting into threads, with a small straight adapter and a short angles one, to move away from the pipes, total it may be 2 inches in length.

I have had the Arlene Ness for seven years no issue, two gauges same result? Not good..
What about the tappet screen???
I used a "T" so my light gauge is still active as a back up.

According to the manual there is not a tappet screen on the 07 117 efi. Looked at all the manual and parts list and no such one. But that would not make it show no oil would it? Just tool her out for about a 10 min ride still no pressure.

Just so you know, when I start my bike it will idle at around 30 pounds. Cruising speed will be 25 to 30 lbs. Once warm and I am idling at a light it will be just below 5 lbs but still in the high twenties when cruising. I believe the low pressure light comes on in the 2.5 lbs range plus or minus. I would be very concerned if you never see any good pressure.

If you took her out for 10 minutes and you really had no oil pressure than you would hear it. Your engine would be knocking like a mother fucker. I assume you still have the oil pressure sending unit plugged in and no light?

Now on to the no tappet screen. Are you sure you are in the correct hole? (She yelps when I try the other hole :whoop: :lol:) There are two right next to each other one is on the engine/cam block and the other is on the oil pump. The oil pump just has a spring and no screen the engine/cam block has the tappet screen.

THANK YOU BBChopper for your post!! You were correct with that video, the tappet screen is a different bolt cover! And i did not even see it in the manual!! Will install the gauge in the correct spot and let you guys know. Awesome call guys!!

I have a mechanical gauge on mine. Look by the rear head. Got it from J&P Cycle item # 5700007 for $39.99 When I fire my 03 Chopper with a S&S 107 up my gauge reads about 60-65 PSI. After about 35-45 minutes it will back down to about 30-40psi.

So which port did you switch to? Screen or without?

There is indeed an oil tappet screen in a 2007 Bulldog....We own two of them.

Although we have been running 0-100psi gauges for years, we just recently purchased two 0-60psi gauges from Jerzzee which each are mounted at the tappet screen port. At cold start-up with 10w-50 oil, I get about 35 psi. After riding and the engine is at full operating temp the idle oil pressure will bounce the needle off the 0 psi peg.

A better more accurate place to read the oil pressure is at the same port location as the oil pressure sensor using a adapter fitting.

If you're not seeing any oil pressure ever then there may be a problem in the pump valving.

Screen. I could not find the screen on any manual. Its funny the Bulldog seems to do things different then everyone else, including screen placement!
