I apologize for typing about deleting posts. I saw a few posts asking for help finding switches and/or controls and no one answering them. Then they sort of disappeared. I saw 2 of them today.
I'm not trying to "piss in anyone's corn flakes" but I would like to see a link or 2 with someone selling both new switches and controls for a price we can afford. Not just some switch parts but full sets.
This is a great board with a lot of good members and vendors. I have bought parts from a few already and had great service. I have learned a lot from the members about my new bike.
I got my bike 7 weeks ago. Rode it 3 times and spent over $1,000 on a WP kit. 200 miles later it didn't run. Called WP they blamed it on my switches.
Tried to find new switches that could replace them but only found BD switch parts at a very costly price. Re-checked the switches and found they are good. So I'm a little bit angry at myself for spending that kind of money and still having to hot wire the bike so I can ride it.
I make good money so I can afford to redo it but others may not be in that position and if this happens to them they will lose the rest of the summer with their bike down. I really would hate to see that happen.
We all love our bikes and love to ride. A forum is where different opinions are expressed/viewed and members can make up their own minds as what to do, what parts to buy, what vendors to use and what direction they should go in. When it gets one sided all the members suffer.
Again, I apologize for typing about deleting posts I was out of line.
BadDawg Bill,
I think we can all sympathize with your situation. Many of us have been there, myself included. I have a Wire Plus and I'm on my third control module. The WP module certainly did not live up to the hype. I truly believe it is much worse than the EHC.
Just for clarity though, the RIP/ESC/thunderheart system is not a "computer". There is not a microprocessor.
I am not sure what system you are advocating, to compare it to. What is performing the switching functions for example.
lastly I find it ironic how against the BDM controls you are and then you go onto say yours are not the problem.
I suspect the issue you have is with wire plus module(s) and your frustrations should be directed accordingly.
I personally have not heard off too many issues with the hand controls. I also think they are very well crafted, and could not stand the thought of big ugly bulky Harley controls.
If I ever have an issue with mine, I will take the steps necessary to resolve that issue. I wont "throw the baby out with the bath water".
Just my thoughts....
