I'm debating on going and picking up my new bike or shipping it, I have a lot of family within 30 minutes of the dealership but then again I'm going through a divorce and shit just aint good at home, kinda affraid If I leave my shit will disappear if ya know what I mean. Any recomendations of a way to ship a bike and who? and a guestimation of cost, 900 miles. I'm in no giant rush to be honest since I'm currently going through hell and cant ride it for a couple weeks anyway.

I used Angel wings transport to get my bike from Chatanooga Tn to KCMO. It was a bit expensive but they got it here in 3 days! Shipping via freight was my other idea, but needed to crate it up and I would still be waiting for it!

I use to haul CMC and American Eagle out of Hollister CA from time to time. I'd pick them up with a reefer and put them on the back of the trailer behind a load of strawberries or lettuce. They can put that bike on a cycle pallet and strap it down but you'll need lift gate service at your house or you can pick it up at the freight yard. Maybe have it shipped to the dealer up there. If I had to guess your looking at $800 to $1200. It's been a long time since I had any bikes on. I'm pulling a end-dump now. Reliable Transportation hauls exotic autos you can google them or maybe a moving company like United. Since time is on your side you should save some money. They can add that to another load "LTL". I used freightquote.com to move a gun safe down to OKC from Chicago. Weight was 1000 lbs on a standard pallet. They provided lift gate service at both ends for $800 and that was in the summer of 2008 when fuel was $4 a gallon. Right at about 800 miles.

DO NOT!!!! use Haulbikes.com They will get your bike to you safely but it will take forever. Almost 2 months from start to finish. No lie. I have all my emails with Shelly to prove it. They always say a truck broke down or a driver had to go to the hospital. Once they have your bike there is nothing you can do but wait and it Sucks!!!!

Haul bikes has a lot of complaints, although they may be the cheapest. My son in-law has used them twice and did not have issues. I think it depends on where you are shipping from and to. They have a terminal in Wi. and if you are shipping across country it will have to go through their terminal there. That means unload and reloading and takes longer. Just google motorcycle shipping and there are a lot of them. I ended up going from MN to NC to pick up mine. Took five days and cost around $1000 with gas, hotel etc. 3000 mi. out and back. A friend went with me and we had a great trip. I had never drove across the east, so really enjoyed the sites and scenery.

This is a great thread. I don't know jack about shipping a motorcycle other than there are a few shippers one would want to avoid. I have had a few lookers who have asked about shipping and I have nothing to offer other than it's all on you regarding that.

All I know is whoever buys the motorcycle I want them to be happy with how it arrives if it goes that route and not get f'd up by some incompetent hauler.

If you are a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group), they offer through a contracted specialized company excellent transportation.
Call them and ask for a quote.
If you are not a member yet, join them for about $ 40.

After considering my options I opted for a road trip to go pick it up, it's less than an hour from my grandmothers house and me and my dad are going for a visit and to pick it up.. This is after I remove all my belongings from the house of course!!!!
