SCREWED BY S&S CYCLE INC!!

:angry:My bike has been down for about 6 months dealing with S&S about a set of DEFECTIVE cylinders they sent me to replace the longer factory Big Dog cylinders. I decided to replace my old original cylinders due to a blown base gasket and 20,000 miles on the bike. I opened the boxes and cleaned the cylinders and pistons up while it was getting dark out then proceeded to install the front cylinder until it got late. I was working outside on my back patio with a shop light due to the Thunder Beach coming up the following weekend that I had plans on attending. The next morning I walked around the bike to look at my work and noticed a few small cracks on the 1st 2nd and 3rd cooling fin from the top. I went into :eek:freak out mode and started taking pictures and calling my S&S dealer to resolve the problem. He told me not to worry that he will get me a replacement front set. Two months later I received a replacement front cylinder and piston set that was now a different style. The fins were square instead of oval in shape. I again called my dealer and he said he will send another correct replacement. Two months later I received another front cylinder with the NEW style cooling fins. You can tell the difference immediately out of the box. Once you place the head on the cylinder you can really see the difference. I called my dealer again and he said he will look further into it before they ship another incorrect set. I took the initiative to call S&S myself and speak to someone who would listen and correct the problem, but to no avail. The employees at S&S who answer the phones are clueless they just pass you along with excuses that they do not work with end buyers and only the dealers and for me to call my dealer. Called back and spoke to tech support and they just took my information and said someone will be calling me back. But during the conversation I did learn that S&S has switched the mold design and that is why I was getting the wrong style cylinders and that I should NOT buy from so called dealers on the Internet. My dealer was NOT the problem! The junk S&S supplied to him was the problem! Six months into this I was asked to send back my original order for inspection. Here it comes, SCREWED for any reason they can come up with such as "You must have damaged the cylinders somehow". Sure enough I got the email that inspection denied the warranty due to the cylinders were installed and ran. Which the engine was NEVER even fully assembled which I sent pictures to prove it. Got on the phone with the manager of tech support (Brent Sands) who denied the warranty and he said he could barely see the cracks and that I should have noticed them during cleaning and inspection and that if he would have known about it sooner he would have discounted the cylinder kit and talked me into keeping the cracked cylinders. Then he decided to replace the cylinders with any style I wanted New or Old style. Of course I wanted the OLD style that came with the bike and flowed with the head fins. A month later I received the replacement set and opened the box to see a set of OLD style NON POLISHED cylinders. :argue:pISSED!! Called S&S and spoke to Wendy again who was my contact after about the 4th month of dealing with this and she told me the only set they have left was the set they sent me. I asked what were my options and she said to send them back at my expense AGAIN $40 shipping and she can send me the NEW style with the square fins or the cracked set I sent back to them. :rant:PISSED!!! I also asked if they can polish the set they sent me and Wendy said they do not have in house polishing and that the polishing caused damage to the fins. So did she just admit that the fins are CRACKED during the polishing? I then asked if she could discount me now that I have to pay someone to polish the cylinders for me and she said that was not an option. Theres more to this story but I really need to calm down:angry: before I buy a plane ticket to Wisconsin. :feedback:
What do you think I should do?

I own 3 motorcycles, a sport bike (GSXR 1000) Jap cruiser (Yamaha V-Star) and the Big Dog so got some riding in but not the same as on the DOG. Why would anyone want to pay for CRACKED cylinders on a $35,000 bike that has fully polished parts on it? Would you put raw ugly cylinders on your bike, cracked ones or the square ones? I just want what I paid for and expected. How in the hell do you polish between the fins anyway? Looking for ideas on what to do from here before I'm dead! Went back on S&S's website and did not see an option for RAW half polished cylinders or heads, just FULLY POLISHED and DIAMOND CUT! So why in the hell did they send me half polished cylinders? These things look bad just sitting on the table.

:rant:Got a price to fully polish the cylinders $600!!!:bang::angry::loony:
I would deck my old ones if I didn't already sell them. I held on to my old cylinders until I had the new cylinders in hand, then I sold the old cylinders not knowing I would have small cracks in the new ones. I had the new cylinders for a few days after I opened the damage free boxes and gave them a quick "once over" but still kept them in the box until I had time to install them. Had several doctors appointments in Biloxi MS. Then I would have to clean them, (checked, decked and honed) anyway before installing them with new pistons and rings. I called around for prices to perform the work and this seamed the better option due to new parts verses old. The kit was all new and close to the same price as just new pistons and rings. (close out) I guess I was getting close out quality parts. The reason I'm ranting is to help others NOT to make the same mistake buying these defective parts.

That's where I sold my old cylinders was on Ebay for around $200. Would not be surprised if that's not my old one's. Might have to check to see if that was the buyer. Wife gives me hell because I always like to keep all my old parts. Now that I no longer have a shop or garage to store anything she bitches at me to get rid of everything. We have another house in Vegas we would love to move into instead of jumping back and forth. So she asked me to get rid of everything instead of paying to drag it cross country. We would have moved by now if I can ever get rid of everything around here. Just sold a 66 Mustang and now working on a 65 as well as a 1985 Capri 5.0. I have 3 Mercury Capri's for sale and maybe the 65 if I never finish restoring it. Putting new floors in and new cowl with drains now. Still have to convert it into a V8 for a 302 I plan on putting in it. Time is Not on my side with all the projects I have to wrap up before we can get out of here.

When your wife said get rid of everything, does that include getting rid of her too? :D You had a perfect opportunity to sell your old cars at Cruzin' the Coast this past weekend. Can't believe you want to leave Mandeville. You won't see the Old Wooden Boat Show in Vegas and you're just across the pond from New Orleans. Sounds like you have some decisions to make.

Did Cruzin The Coast as well as my High School Reunion that weekend. If you ever live in Vegas you will know the difference. Only 4 hours to the coast and always something going on. Not to mention, It's time for a change. We just want to switch the numbers around 80% in Vegas or Cali and 20% in Louisiana. Not to mention, some things are legal that aren't in the bible belt. I'm a cancer patient and if you have cancer and 6 kids from 5 to 25 you will do just about anything to enjoy a quality life with your family just a little longer. Today if you want to sell anything you have to give it away to sell it. I can try to sell it for a penny and that seems to be too much. Had a running and driving complete 66 Mustang and all I could get was $2500 and it had great floors, trunk, interior and new brakes. As for New Orleans, grew up there and still have some family around but I do my best not to go there. Last time I drove my Benz ML that has 22" AMG wheels on it they broke into it on a Military base on the west bank. I moved out of N.O. because I have a Mitsubishi show truck with sound in it that I bought new while I was in the Marines. I woke up one night to the alarm screaming from under the oak tree I had parked her under and was shot at while they tried to steal it. They didn't know I had a shiny 44 magnum in my hand and I shot back. The NOPD (Not Our Problem Dept) came and took my gun to run ballistics and then refused to give it back until I got a judges order to release it to me. All this and I had 4 bullets in my house and one in the couch. Kind of like that Divine intervention scene in Pulp Fiction. I really didn't aim to kill, just scare off but they can kill my house and couch. That was the first time I ever seen a Silhouette van on two wheels. Then a short time after that someone broke into my house and stole the gun and everything else of value with it in about two hours. Found some of my valuables in a pawn shop and some of my coin collection was spent at Time Saver for smokes and beer. Had video tape from Time Saver and the pawn slip but they refused to charge anyone due to the 30 Min's between the time I called and the time they sold my stuff at the pawn shop. HUH! The insult to injury was while they robbed my house one of them ate and drank my food while sitting on my shot dead Natinni couch. I have always been a victim with my luck, that's why this S&S crap does not surprise me. I was the kid in school during Christmas that would always get the worst present when the kids drew numbers and swapped. And I have never ever won anything in my life. Must have a VooDoo curse on me or something.

Dammit Que! I hear ya. But Mandeville is a far cry for Nawlins. I always enjoyed riding the lakefront drive there. Best of luck with your cancer. Beating that is all that matters. Everything else is small stuff and I wouldn't sweat the small stuff. One item on my bucket list is to ride the Napa Valley Wine Train. I hear that's a blast! Wishing you a full recovery and getting the best gift this Christmas.
