scratches fender

My wife drop a piece of plywood on my rear fender and made some scratches is there some polish th at take out the scratches.the bike is black.

If the scratch goes beyond the clear coat and into the black you are probably stuck with it or have it touched up by a professional. Good luck.

2000 grit sand paper and then polish back to a shine, do not use rubbing compoud, polishing compound is ok to use to buff. If you have a buffer/polisher it shouldn't run faster than 1200 RPM's.

I've used 2000 grit wet sandpaper many times, the clear coat is pretty thick. Do not sand through the clear coat, if you start seeing black on the sand paper you've gone too far. It will look bad at first during sanding but it WILL buff back to it's original shine....lots of rubbing though.

Have you guys heard about how to get rid of scratches... like on sunglasses, etc ?

It is one of those tricks like the one of Tin Foil & Water for Chrome... do a search... already discussed and proved!

Is the pinstriping buried in the clear? If not, be very careful around it, otherwise sanding or buffing on top of it will make it disappear quickly.
