SCORPIO ALARMS SUCK

Hey save your hard earned dollars and don't waste them on an alarm system from Scorpio. I just shelled out close to $400 for one of their "top of the line" (900i) systems with proximity sensor and I can still snatch the seat off my bike before the sytem will alarm and notify me. Yeah the warning tone goes off, but if you quickly pull off the seat and step away it just gives the thief a warning tone for several seconds to step back and it doesn't go into alarm and notify the owner. I tried to return the item and get a refund and they will not stand behind their product and take them back. They only take returns within 14 days of purchase, which is stated on the online order form, fat lot of good that did me since I ordered it by phone. Either way they suck (in my book). Their alarm system is not real effective. I am now going to install the $3 system of a battery cable attached to your seat and bolted to the frame as awesome Gasman showed to secure my high dollar custom seat since I can't depend on my $400 Scorpio alarm system to protect my investment. Again just an opinion, but I do provide acceptance testing for military security systems for a living, and in my professional opinion SCORPIO ALARMS SUCK AND THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR JUNK.

had mine 4 years works great. there is a adjustment on the perimeter sensor. had 1 problem OUT OF WARRANTY and they still paid for half of the part. my perimeter sensor works so good i dont use it at bike nights due to people walking around

My Scorpio works fine, I too leave the perimeter turned off most of the time. I'd be surprised to think that a fellow BD owner is desperate enough to steal a one-off seat that is easily identifiable. That'd be kinda dumb am thinking. Esp if the perp likes to ride his bike outside of his garage - to say events.
Can't say it hasn't crossed my mind that my gas cap would be gone someday. Maybe I should have it engraved.

I don't hear of many probs like that at the rallies though. Easy enough to steal the whole bike for un-identifiable parts if they feeling lucky I suppose.

Say are you gonna be at Biketoberfest, might have to recon that seat.... j/k

If you have an opinion about a product or service, please just state your facts and quit beating around the bush. Otherwise, it's really hard to see where you stand on this and may influence some members in a direction you initially did not intend. yeah Brad I beleive that 1000 version looks alot like a negative battery cable bolted to the frame and to the seat. Or the K9 version, just have to train the rottweiler to run along side to my destinations. Thanks for the laugh.

I gave up on the Scorpio alarm that I paid about $300 for when I got my '05 Chopper. However, for me the reason was that the remote wouldn't sound off if I was more that 30 feet from the bike. Maybe they've improved upon that, but I'm afraid to shell out another few hundred to find out.

Jeff I tested mine the other day (900i) and it was intermittent. I was in a block building about 150' away sometimes it alarmed, sometimes it did not. They claim it is good for up to 1/2 a mile away. I regret buying it. Hell even the customer service reprensentative for the company suggested posting it on ebay "that's what everone else does" were his exact words, that was the best they could provide in a refund idea.

And to clarify for those that say theirs works fine, mine does some of what it says it would, just too slowly. It gives approximately 4 seconds of warning tone when the promimity sensor is activated. In those few seconds I can pluck my expensive nice shark skin seat off and step back out of the detection range of the sensor. I can do this before the system goes into active alarm and notifies the pocket FOB. I bought it hoping it would protect my bike from having high dollar accessories stolen. The system fails to do that. My bad for not testing it and returning it sooner than the short 14 days they give. Did I mention THEY SUCK. If I I forgot to mention that, well THEY SUCK.

Yeah I think you were one of the first with your tail gate cord mod. It was big house that came up with the neg battery cable idea.

Well I ran mine on my bdm for 3 yrs with no problems!!!!


Ok... they dont suck. And when I had my perimeter start acting up, I called Scorpio and they fix or replaced it for free. That is good customer service, the damn part was 2yrs old. Customer service is usually set by the tone of the person calling. As grandma use to say you catch more bees with honey then you do with viniger. We see this every day especially with bdm. You call up yelling, ranting.. you dont get far.

If I remember correctly there is a settings for all this stuff. You have to do it from the remote. Most likely you need to turn up the sensativity on the unit. On the perimeter its as simple as turning the dial on the top of the unit under the plastic circle cover.

Further, if you ever had alarms on cars they aren't 100%. For example, my perimeter would work awesome in the rear but out front by the front wheel not so much. Why? Cause the gas tank was blocking its effectiveness. Turn it up to gain more effectiveness by the front wheel and my garage door, opening or closing, would set it off 10' away which was too sensative.

Further, how secure was the unit to the bike. You can see below that mine was double zip tied.

The looser the unit the less vibrations it will pick up off the bike. If it could be screwed into a hard metal surface that would be the best best.

I'm un sure which aspect of the alarm sensatvity you had problems with, perimeter or shock, but I believe I have said the sensativity can be adjusted.

I personally loved the Scorpio knowing what it's limits were.

Yeah i had a version in 99 on my fatboy,once my bike caught fire and a couple of years later all the modules started to fail.I ripped it out and now carry a padlock.
