I have been looking at the scavenger oil kit from rogue for a while now. And actually saw it in the How to Service your bike thread. There is also a less expensive one called CORS. Big discussion at work the other day as to if this really works, Yeah we have all seen the pictures of the old oil coming out after the oil has been changed and the new oil back in the tank.
2 questions arose:
1> How much oil does the engine and all its sub components really hold and is there really an extra 20-24 oz in the bike when you drain the oil?? (Is that 2 questions?)
2> Oil comes into the enging from the oil tank. ANd last place before it goes back to the oil tank is the oil filter. Is that really all old oil comimg out with this system or is it a mixture of some old and some new before you see the flow go to only new oil. An anlogy was the swimming pool. Pump in water a one end, pump it out at the other end but in the middle is a mixture of old and new water.
Just a thought.
I am going to try this week using a 2 liter coke bottle to "catch" the oil old" until it runs clean. I would not do this normally because I do not think that much old oil is in the system, but this oil change I am switching from Dino to synthetic.
