What is the secret to saving your paint from being rubed off by the seat, or do I have a problem with my seat 04 ridgeback. I'am taking the rear fender off now and haveing it color sanded and some small pits repaired. Would like to know if there is some trick you guys have found to prevent this damage.

Yeah Vernon, they make a 3M product called a "paint saver" its a clear laminate that sticks on the paint, easily removes with no paint damage and keeps the suction cups from dicking up your paint.:2thumbs:

If you don't want to go the paint saver route, this is what I do, I put a heavy coat of wax on my fender where the pillion pad rests every time before I ride two up. So far it has worked for almost three years, no marks or scratches.

Can you tell me what kind or wax you use. I think I will try the paint saver under my seat and try the wax for the pillion pad thanks for the suggestions from all you guys.

Best preventive maintenance on this issue is to make sure fender is free of all dirt by wiping down and make sure suction cups on bottom of seat are also wiped clean before putting seat to fender...

I use Mothers paste wax, I apply a heavy coat and let it dry, i don't wipe it off until i take the pillion pad off

What jimizee and aspen said.

I use Mother's California Gold Carnauba cleaner wax, but I apply a liberal coat and wipe off before using the pillion, each and every time. No marks on a black paint job.
