Sagging bars...

Hey guys, my handlebars are leaning back pretty far lately. The rubber mounts seem to be worn out or something. I was thinking I might be able to take out the bars and just rotate the rubber mount/grommets. Anyone have any experience with this and if so any kind of fixer upper without buying new rubber mounts? Right now the back of my bars is resting on the triple and the bolts ARE tight. Thanks for any advice.

gets some new rubber mounts. :flag:

You can try your fix but I don't think it will last because the original mount is a softer rubber compond.:job:

they have the extra hard ones that don't wear as bad.

There was a TSB for this problem. Did you ever have the dealer upgrade the handelbar bushings? BDM went to a urethane bushing which was a lot stiffer then the original ones. I had this done at no charge on my 06 Mastiff.

I installed the hard ones and they are HARD. Bars vibrate pretty good like a rigid. I would go with the softer ones.

If anyone is interested in the harder ones, PM me for a trade or sumthin, I need to get some softer ones....

I had same thing happen to my 2006 - K9, at Myrtle beach last year at a bigdog trail they replaced them for free with the new urethane ones. If you have a event anywhere around you, you may be able to do same.

Buck up, my new front end does not accommodate any bushings at all, direct mount. Take your vibes like a man:roll:

i suppose you're right Al, i really don't want to wrench anymore, I WANNA RIDE!

I had no idea how bad my bushings had become until I replaced them. I knew the bars were sagging, I just didn't realize the extent of the sag until I put the new ones on. Big difference!

 :2thumbs:
