S&S Super G rebuild help

Tore down my carb for a good cleaning and decided to buy the mater rebuild kit from S&S. Pretty much no issues on the re-assembly until I got to the throttle plate. Can't get it to seat 100%. The new plate and shaft are very crisp and getting it in place is a little difficult. It's hard to see but the edges of the plate have a slight bias cut and I took before pics and have consulted google for more pics so I'm almost positive everything is back in place the same way as before. But the plate does not seat 100% i.e. I cannot see a little air gap when it closes. Also seems to be scraping just slightly on the interior sides. So I switched to the old plate and it's better but still a slight gap. Anybody ever deal with this?

Did you try backing off the idle screw to see if its holding it open a little? The scraping part i dont understand really how its doing that

Quick update. The trick is use some assembly grease on the new shaft and throttle plate and leave the shift to plate screws loose. Then you can open and close the valve and wiggle it until it seats perfectly. Then tighten the screws down. Seems obvious now lol

Yeah not the idle screw. There's more play than I thought with the plate and shaft. Just got to get it set perfectly before you tighten
