S&S roller rocker questions

I am considering upgrading to roller rockers this winter.
I have an 08 117 carb model with the stamped rockers, I installed a 585 cam this past spring.
The bike runs great but no matter how many times I check the push rod adjustment it just ticks too much for my taste.
I am using Valvoline v-twin 20-50 oil
I know the rollers create less friction and therefore should last longer.

Will they be quieter?
Is this an upgrade worth doing?
Anyone have the part number I need?

Yes, they will be quieter.
Depends on your state of mind if the ticking drives you crazy. The rockers are expensive but not for your piece of mind. I put them in mine but I built the motor and needed them. I think I paid $450.00 when I purchased them.

I put the roller rockers in as well when I changed to the .585 cam. Seems to be quieter when the push-rods are adjusted properly.

these are on e-bay for about 240.00 that is what i paid for a set a week ago...i thought a 2008 had the S&S roller rockers!...yes 900 4065A is what i purchased..lookin for S&S boxes and shafts...

Mine are quieter when I have my ear plugs in. I use a 650 Wood Cam, .

I also use Lucas High Performance Motorcycle 50 Wt. Oil. The average daily temperature in my area is about 90 or better so that 50 wt. works good for me.

08's have standard rocker arms it was the earlier bikes that had the rollers. I want to say 07 and earlier however I'm not positive that it's a true statement.

I picked mine up for 200.00 from a member here on the forum they were slightly used with little to no wear.

Don't know about the A on the end but the big twin is you.

The 2007 EFI bikes had the flat tappets and the carb models had the rollers.

I ptu them in my 08 when i installed a Woods .590 cam. Liked having the extra bit of assurance. S&S will tell you that what you have know is suitable for the .585 cam. While you are at it you might want to install the qucikie pushrods at the same time. That way if you ever did want to change things around again it would be easier with removeable push rods.

As far as noise I have my pushrods at 3 1/2 turns and it fairly quiet.

I am talking about the S&S Roller rocker arms 05 old dog.
I thought he was wanting to replace the stamped rockers with roller rocker arms is where my mind is.
That is the number I posted for S&S Roller Rocker Arms. The 07 EFI bikes did not come with them and had beehive springs.
Hope I did not misread what he was wanting to change out.

no i think your right just hadnt head the term tappets since i was a kid...lol...im doing the same mod to my 05.

I am with you. I have called them tappets all my life building car/truck motors over the years. I grew up in Florida so depending who I am talking to from where may cause some slang issues. I am a 55 year old kid.

Any thoughts on lifters? I changed my TPs out with S&S, a little quieter and the geometry is alot better. However I hear nothing but exhaust until the oil gets hot, then I can hear the valve train.

where you at on your pushrod settings?...mine was way noisey then adjusted them to 3 rounds and 2 flats or 20 flats and really made a difference...used the how section for adjustments... and yea when i was a kid and my father was hot rodding he called them tappets and tappet covers...just hadnt heard the term in a while. its now lifters and rockers and valves and valve covers...

Many times the pushrods are NOT adjusted correctly, thus the noise associated with certain cams.
We load the lifter .140-.150" regardless of pushrod TPI.
Roller rocker arms are always a good upgrade, and S&S is what we use exclusively here.
