s&s roller design improvements/compatibility

I recently purchased new roller rockers but after close scrutinizing I discovered the two forward pair (rear cylinder intake, forward cylinder exhaust) are 106-1678. The aft pair are 90-6045r. The design differences are smaller orifices to reduce oil up top per s&s and visually the roller tip lubrication feed was moved from the shaft housing near the spring to just above the roller. S&S says both are 1.625 but the 106-1678 are an obsolete part number. Both reps said they're intended for the same engine but one said run them and the other said he wouldn't. I'm performing the tp to s&s conversion on an 06 mastiff. It doesn't seem like a big deal but I thought I would throw it out for opinions. Thanks

:loony: In 2008 I replaced my Rocker Boxes and Roller Rockers with the S&S.
I ordered mine from Full Throttle Motorsports, Inc in Lansing Mich, which place was recommended to me by Gasman. These are the part # on the invoice I received, which I have on file and hidden from the wife

BDM100-00083 Rocker Box set $511.66
BDM100-00081 Roller Rocker Arm $408.46
BDM100-00080 Roller Rocker Shaft $ 27.48
103-000067-00 Top End Gasket set Included
BDM100-00414 Gasket front Tappet Free
BDM100-00416 Gasket rear Tappet Free

I have a 2006 Mastiff and that is what I installed without issues.

One of the old ones.
Last week Blacktopper and I just installed lifters I bought last year for my 08 K9. I've had them of a while waiting until I had enough miles...I've bought them in Dec., 2011.
it was S&S part # 33-5352. I put 'em in like they came out of the box. I threw away the packaging, and am looking at the receipt for the parts and gaskets. I assume the set of lifters are interchangeable....
Due to weather, I've only put about 5 miles since then.

Thanks Guy's for your feedback. I've covered the internet for technical info regarding the differences to no avail. I can't get the same story twice from s&s tech support. Was hoping to find some literature that would support the design
theory. Based on what I've read on this forum it seem Mr Sachs that your experience might lend you to an opinion regarding the change in orifice location and top end over oiling. This forum has led me to believe this 06 G Carb mastiff will contain a coil over coil valve spring setup which makes it extremely ripe for the future 585 slam dunk. Sure is nice to make measurable performance tweaks a little at a time without having to do a complete lobotomy
