s&s extended filter

Supposedly S&S makes a larger filter to improve air intake. Anyone using this system with the stock big dog cover? What do you need, other than the filter, to install this filter? From what I understand it is a thicker filter with more surface area for air intake. Thanks!

From the way it looks in the ads, its a plug and play. Comes with the extended screws, for a proper fit. You may also want to consider the S&S "Desperado" air cleaner cover. It is the same as stock, with the exception of air slots running around the top, front, and bottom (J&P cycles~$129.00) Or Ebay where I got mine for around $60.00. Either way, the choice is yours.

I've got a large air flow K&N air filter with the extension bolt on kit and a S&S teardrop cover. K&N custom built me the filter for $60. It is the same size as stock, but 1" wider.

I've got one on my Mastiff. Stock Big Dog cover. Looks good and added a few horsepower. Had it put on in Sturgis by Speeds Performance when they dynoed my bike.

 

[Splitlog]

J and P cycle have them...it is a simple 1" extension you screw into backing plate. put your wider filter on and then use your existing screws to install factory or tear drop cover..the original screws go right into the end of the extensions....

But be advised if you have short legs you may have a problem reaching around to your pegs.
