I have to agree with you, I like the spike better. The dual runners looked big and bulky on it. Especially that plate where it bolts up.

Yeah, there's alot to like about the Dual Runner, its really the bracket that ruins it for me. It's just to bulky, clunky, and covers up the carb. I want to like it, it looks bad ass from every position except the drivers position. Well kinda, those big oval slots at the head are not a thing of beauty. A smaller more streamline bracket would change my mind on this.

Still like the dual runner better. Just what I like . May not be for everyone. The hoses could be swapped out with ss braided hose.

I will donate a barely used S&S Dual Runner Breather System to the first $ 490.00
S&S Rain Socks included. Free shipping if you come to Thunder Beach in May.
Trade offers welcome

I understand your comments - I think there should be a chrome plug that fits into the oval slot - that would really look better. The wimmer trim rings would really improve also. But what I would really like to do is grind out that support brace with the S&S logo on it - that would improve the unit 100% - you would see a bit more of the engine and it would look really clean. But if these units come already chromed then grinding the brace out would be out of the question. I don't think the structural integrity of the unit would be compromised if ground out IMHO. Im probably going to pick one of these units up very soon...

I'm guessing the answer is yes, but do you have to re-jet and tune the carb going from stock to the dual runner? Been looking into a new air intake, just not sure which one and look. But I'm really starting to like the dual runners with blue filters on the blue bikes.

Personal preference or not, there's no way you can like that "twisted" spike more than that sweet dual runner! Dude, really, get a grip...don't act like some of these guys who have more money than sense!!! Should I add something stupid like...IMFO!!!!!!!!!

I love the dual runner. The only way I would run a spike is to run two of them at least you would be getting more air to the engine. 1 spike is just inadequate.

Looked like you had a compressor or a AC unit hanging on the side of you bike just looked way too bulky,so i like the single spike, but to each it's own!!

I would like to see a comparison of the d&m boss spikes vs s&s dual runner. The boss is crazy expensive, but I would like to see how it performs vs the dual runner.

I would like to see a test like that also. But looking at both units just ask yourself the question which one looks less restrictive. It's the S&S Duel Runner of course because there's absolutely no restriction on the air filter elements. The spikes mostly have looks going for them. In addition to blocking air flow, they may cause a disruption in the air flow which results in an uneven fuel/air mixture. This can cause sputtering and lagging. If I had a set of spikes I would only put them on if I was going to a the bike show. I just can't see spending 1300 bucks to get less performance out of my scooter...

Well... looks do count :D

I am really digging "The Boss", I am running the single spike and I have no problems whatsoever, I did have some hiccups when I first received the Bike, obviously it was not set up properly for my location (Sea Level) so I turn it vertical, re-jetted, and got rid of the vent plug as per S&S instructions. It is running beautiful since then.

D&M claims their single spike provides 10% more air flow than the stock set up... so The Boss cannot be restrictive at all!

Now... are you racing your bike? If yes, then it is a whole different scenario! For the day to day riding I cannot see any problems with either one of these set ups.

There is a viedo on youtube from bikers dream that compares the two diffrent air cleaners on the dyno and the s&s dual runner made 3 more hp than the spike
