Hi guys & gals. I'm looking for a little insight on a problem one of my Big Dog buddies is having.
Has anyone on this forum replaced their original S&S motor with a new S&S motor? Specifically the V111E? The reason I ask is my buddy bought an 04 Chopper brand new and managed to get 60K out of the motor before he started getting a pretty annoying vibration at about 3000 rpm. He had the run out checked at the crank and it was way out of spec. He elected to replace his original 107 rather than rebuild it and went with the S&S V111E. He had a mechanic do the install. (Basically a bolt in procedure) except for the electrics, which he worked out very nicely.
The new engine seems to have more vibration than the 107 with the crank problem. The vibration comes on earlier too at about 2000 rpm. Has anyone else experienced this with the V111E motor? The mechanic did not dyno the motor and I suspect that would help some, and my guess is the 111 might by nature vibrate more due to bigger engine displacement, but it shouldn't vibrate this much.
I think my buddy is planning to contact S&S shortly, but thought I would check here first to see if anybody else has experienced this, and if so did you get some resolution to the problem?
Any info. would be greatly appreciated
