1. Check compression with the correct tool, not a thumb over the spark plug hole. Match both front and rear cylinder numbers or poor idle, poor starting, poor running interferes.
2. Run your 3wV = 3 wire Variables:
a. Wire out of connector.
b. Connector not connected.
c. Short to ground ~ Signal out of range.
3. Run the remaining 3amigos. One is a bandit.
a. Compression - First step or chase your tail with the other 2. However, it runs. Not C.
b. Fuel - Do both cylinders use one carb? Front runs, rear doesn't. Not F.
c. Spark - I assume on my end there is compression. My tail chasing says, yes it runs, but could I now have cam wipe and no open valve or is it a tight valve and I lose 1 of 3 variables. Do I have ring failure and where is my compression you see me running around for a spark problem and not know where that comp is?
Tool: Where do I start? From the spark plug up the wire to the coil or ign to coil to wires to plug wire to spark plug, etc.? My main issue is chasing a spark, not something fouled and oiling and comp related? I'm going to get my timing light and crank the engine. Spark is my bandit if I have comp and gas. If I have spark I have a plug to compression issue. Tight valve to not even opening I chase my tail and it comes to compression being out of the way is the very first thing or CYTail.
