Runaway starter issue...

check the stator output... then if thats checks out check the voltage regulator... whats up with the starter.. I thought it checked out.,.. you can buy a rebuild kit for the starter solenoid...new plunger & contacts....And my troubles continue. I just posted up in the help wanted section for a new stator. The damn thing quit charging on me.
Everything seemed to be fine after i put the new battery in, but i think that just masked the stator issue. We went on a little ride this evening and i had a loose bolt, pulled over to tighten it and it wouldn't start back up. My step dad had to run and get a truck. I charged the batt for a bit, started it and hauled ass back to their place.
you need to check your charging system..... a week battery will cause all kinds of problems as stated before... how did you check your stator?? there are a couple ways,,, do a seach,, its on here....Everything seemed to be fine after i put the new battery in, but i think that just masked the stator issue. Pretty sure my bike has a c/b. Just to verify, its small, gray with a black top and is mounted in front of the battery more towards the positive side of the battery (left side of the bike).
With the key on, I currently have 12.3v at the battery and 11.7 volts at the c/b. It jumps roughly .4v when the key is off at both places. With the bike running, voltage drops at both spots.

I have to be the dumbest guy in the world...it took me taking of the c/b to realize there is a reset button. I was about ready to go find a replacement.yep that the breaker ... there is a small button it.. could be facing the bottom.. crank the bike & check voltage @ both terminals on the breaker should be the same if its charging.. it should be putting out 13.5 to 14 vdc.. roughly
Everything seems to be good to go now, battery is charging off the stator.
Gonna go for a ride and find out.

The starter taking on a life of its own really thru me too. I think it was just a random electrical gremlin.
The c/b was a completely unlrelated issue that just popped up at the same time I think.
I rode the bike for 2 days and everything was fine. She got loaded back into the truck and we're back in Az. now...and I'll be unloading and riding her sometime today.
