RUBBER COVER ON COMPRESSION RELEASE BROKE, SPRING CAME OUT, WHAT NOW?

The rubber boot on my compression release (rear rocker) broke tonight when I started the bike, and of course makes a loud popping sound because of the broken rubber. The spring is out, (in my pocket) and this is what it looks like below. What do I need to do to repair it, and how big of a problem is it?)

Thanks for taking time and posting every detail :2thumbs:

That's why I financially support this site it has tons of value.

Thanks for the help guys! I am going to do both at the same time. My next question is will I damage the bike if I were to ride it? I don't plan on it, but I sure do miss it, and it's going to take a little bit to get up the scratch to replace them! I just realized my paid status to this site is expired as well, so thank you for reminding me, it's been a while since I've been on the forum!

Thanks Again
Tyler!!

Lastly, I searched the site pretty well, But I was wondering if anybody had a write up on how to replace the compression release. From the "how to replace rocker box" I see that there is another bracket (not mechanically inclined at all) underneath the rocker box, and it appears that I pull those bolts, and maybe I can access the compression release, replace them, and put it back together. I want to make sure that I might not have any pieces of metal in the jug, but I don't know really what it looks like in there, and what could all be affected.

Thanks again!
Tyler
