RSD OPEN PRIMARY HELP

Well, I can tell you that I've always been opposed to open primaries mainly due to the loud noise they USED to make that I remember from my old Harley days back in the 80 & 90's.
I will tell you that when I met up with Sailor in Casa Grande, AZ that the first thing I noticed was an open primary on his scoot and it was almost as quiet as my closed primary.
And you know what????? It was a completely chromed out Baker unit.
I was impressed with it.

So what is the overall outcome of good Open Primaries? I seen the response from Jim at Karata and it is good information and there is no doubt that Karata's are excellent, but nonetheless it is from a manufacture rep and right or wrong it would not be unusuall for them to say their's is the best and etc.
By no means am I saying that Karata is bad for I know for a fact that they are one of the best designed and most realiable out there.
On the Baker, their new one was made for our later primaries and there is no doubt that Baker has an overall good reputation. How does this relate to their new drive is unknown, but it does also appear to be a well thought out systems of quality.
Would like to see some pipe in from real world experience of using a specific open belt drive and particular interested in the new Baker's for I like the look, like the stainless part and like the apparent engineering in it.
Karata would be my next choice or primary if Bakers are not holding up. The problem with Baker at this point is that they are too new and not allot of real world history to see how it holds up. Karata has that history, but it is important that the complete package be thought of (and I am sure Jim can help others out on that).
I will say one thing, if I ever personally ever put one on, it will have some guards to protect the leg from the belt and moving pulley. Take my word, it hurts to get a pant leg caught in one of those things.

Thanks for the information and there is no question in my mind about Karata whatsoever. Just like the looks of the Baker more, however just like you said, Karata is proven, Baker is not. Generally they put out a good product, but I am not sure if I want to be the one to find the errors. Not in a rush, but have been thinking about putting one on. If I do not see something solid from real world on Baker soon, no questions I will go with a Karata.
Sorry about the leg, but if you are like me it is something you are not likely to forget for awhile. Make you subconsitious to plant that foot and keep the leg clear even more. In my case for over 8 years now.

cant remember my cost , but i know karata is still giving 15% to members

I went with the Baker because I wanted to stick with the warranty. However, I know better now and prefer to fix my one shit.:bang: :argue: Sofar, I have not had any problems with mine and it runs very quiet. I did not like the fact that it is polished, but I will have it chromed over the winter months. 
The installation went real smooth. But let me tell you have to have a ½ inch impact gun either pneumatic or electric to remove both the motor sprocket nut 1 5/16 and clutch nut 1 3/16. Once you get past that part the rest is easy, good instructions with it. I have not had any problems with the clutch nut coming loose or leaks of any kind. The belt goes on there real tight, in fact the instruction ask that you use a big rubber mallet to install the belt, which I had to do. I guess that answers you question as to how good does it hook up.
