Last night was the worst ride of my life. Whats worse is my wife was on the bike with me as I went through it. :down:
Long story short - was about 100 miles from home, it was about 30 minutes til dark when we left the casino. Headed out on major road and caught a good sized rock with my headlight. It made a terrible bang noise and the high beam indicator light immediately started flickering. I pulled over to assess it and sure enough there was a hole about the size of a half dollar in the headlight lens.
I tapped the headlight bucket pretty hard and the light came on. Really? Cool. Simple enough. we headed back on the road and by this time it was getting pretty damn dark. Went about 15 miles and poof - light went out again. So I thought - no problem, I'll just give it a thump and go. If I have to do this 20 times on the way home its no big deal. Except this time, the thump doesn't work. While messing with it, I ended up slashing my hand with a piece of the broken glass (7 stitches this morning). :angry:
After I stopped cussing, I noticed that, if I moved the actual bulb upward, it would work. So I wedged a piece of broken glass under the bulb and presto - headlight.
So we headed out again, about 50 miles from home and its pitch dark. By the way - there's no town or anything from here to home.
Got about 20 miles and light went out. I figured the glass wedge fell out from vibration so I got off the scoot and went to the front and saw the original wedge still in there. The bulb was totally gone now.
DAMNIT! :bang::bang::bang:
So, what to do. We called 3 of our friends and all were at the Mavericks game (100 miles away).
After thinking for a bit, we decided to take it REAL slow and just put down the road with our flashers on.
Then, we really strange looking dude in a worn out pickup truck stopped us and said "trail me and I'll take you into town."
So we did - we trailed the old truck at 50mph for the next 40 miles or so and make it home safely. Got my hand fixed up this morning.
Now, the issue is - I have no idea where to get a new glass lens for my scoot. I'll call Lena today. And, this may be my opportunity to get the HID.
Long story to just say - wow - don't take your lights for granted!
