I feel your pain and wish I had an answer for you. I totally rewired mine old school and never had another electrical problem but all the other stuff (leaking front forks, bad wheel bearings, neck bearings, leaking trans, rough shifting etc) drove me nuts so I sold mine. Dogs are like beautiful women. You need to spend a lot of time and money on them or they don't preform and I'm too old for that shit.
Ditch the RIP, go with the ESC, you won't regret it.. You'll be lookin at your dog with new found love.

Hey. I do not know if I understood the case correctly. It seems that I had / have a similar issue with my new PIP Kit II from Big Dog Motorcycle, but I found out maybe sth that can help. When I changed the old EHC on my Chopper '05 (it was instable) to the new RIP KIT Version 2 from BDM, first nothing happens when turning the key switch. The issue was a small cable that was installed directly between the ignition switch and the original cabeling that reduces the power to 50% (6V). After I took this out there was power to all and the bike runs stable, but NO FUNCTION TO HEADLIGHT CONTROL and NO NEUTRAL LED. What I found out last week is : the cableing of the old backbone harness for headlight (high beam and low beam) should be connected to the pin 38 and 39 (see page 6-51 of service manual sector B PIN Identification) the old plug from backbone harness has very small visible numbers graved on the plug side. The measured connections (cabeling) shows that low Beam and high beam are well connected to position 38 and 39 in that plug BUT!!! The numbers for the positions on the plug ARE NOT THE POSITIONS ON THE HARNESS - in my case the positions are mirrored. Means position 38 and 39 in the old backbone harness plug connects when plugged to the harness to positions 45 and 46 (and 46 is an empty pin). That is the reason why my high beam control had no function. Same with my neutral LED. Maybe it is necessary to control cable by cable and pin to pin connection - just as an idea.... good luck

Just give up Douggy, nobody wants to listen anyway, just let them figure it out the hard way, spending countless hrs beating their heads against the wall trying to figure it out and then once you think you've found the issue, bam! I was the same way and went through all the other bullshit, bypassing my EHC and all, finally got tired of being towed home and said fuck it and got the ESC from Doc, the rest is history!
Yup...fuk it, I'm goin riding on my thoroughly reliable mastiff..Just give up Douggy, nobody wants to listen anyway, just let them figure it out the hard way, spending countless hrs beating their heads against the wall trying to figure it out and then once you think you've found the issue, bam! It's back again!

I often wonder what the obsession is on keeping the EHC on their bikes? It's just strange when so many of us have dumped the EHC and moved on successfully! And then all they do is bitch about what a piece of shit the bike is! Just mind boggling.Thanks John, you as well...it certainly is nice not having that looming concern of being stuck on the side of the road, isn't it..

The world has many mysteries, this is but one of them. We have overcome our electrical problems with our bikes and offered up the same solution to others, it is their choice what they do. The bitching about how shitty BD's are is very easily ignored by me.
