RIP problems still.

I am really getting tired of dumping money into this Dog. This is a follow up from the last RIP problem. 8 weeks ago I replaced the starter. 2 weeks later going 70 down the freeway and bike just quit. Annunciater and spedo both fried. Spent a week trying to diagnose problem. Had to buy new battery annunciator, and spedo Not getting power from RIP module to ignition module so I shipped RIP to Big Dog for testing. 3 weeks later they told me it was toast. Purchased a new one from them and received it 5 days ago. Installed it and new ignition module. Turn signals, headlight and new spedo are working. Cranks but no spark. Replaced crank sensor,. tested V.R coil and everything else on the dam thing and it still is not getting power from the RIP module to the ignition module. I am running out of things to test. I have been wrenching and riding more then 50 years and I have never had a bike that has given me problems like this. Anybody got any suggestions?

Sorry if I sound like an ass but, you really should have gone with DOC's ESC, I keep hearing of guys with RIP issues but never anything with ESC issues. I have close to 10k trouble free and tender free miles. Don't want to bash the RIP kit...it's reputation for being on the unreliable side speaks for itself..:2cents:

Did you have or replace the Ignition module, you can send that to Thunder Heart and they will check it for you for free and I don't think they will take 3 weeks to do it.
good luck, keep coming back we will get it eventually and like I said in the other thread you had, fuse the power to the main module.

I also run DOC's ESC

I did replace the ignition module but there is no power coming from the RIP module to the ignition module and I also do not have high beam or neutral indicator light and everything is new.

Did ya check the headlight plugin the bucket to see if its melted?
Also when you turn the key on can you hear a very slight click from the TH module, not the ignition module, like a relay tripping? That would be an indication there's a short somewhere.

Went with DOC's about 4 months after my purchase ... 3 plus years later without an issue ... would ride it anywhere without a thought or worry!

I installed 2 other RIP kits in friends bikes almost 2 years ago and they have had no problems at all but mine has become a real PIA. It is still down and I have taken both PC boards apart and checked them for shorts, the headlight apart, the gas tank off and can find nothing wrong, but I still have no power to the module and no hi beam. I am getting really fed up with dumping money and time into this thing and not being able to ride

Just a suggestion, as it is an additional expense, but why not pick up an ESC from DOC's and be done with it. I have not heard of any issues from anyone with an ESC, I have 100% faith in mine..:old2::old2:

It sure is nice having a reliable dog isn't it John..:whoop:
Since I installed it over 7,000 worry free miles ago I have had "0" issues electrically! No batt tender either in all that time, ever! So yea it's peace of mind and I no longer have a love/hate relationship with my bike! Only love now baby! :whoop::chopper::old2:
