There are a few threads on how to set the switch in the right control. If the magnet fell out call Derek and Donna and get a new one. I think it just glues in.Mr. Wright has helped me out a lot...mostly fixing what I break while I'm trying to fix something else. He's a talented machinist and mechanic and painter.
That reminds me, the magnet is missing from the front brake lever...might have happened when I set the switch too deep and crushed it with the brake lever...nah, must be the last time someone else worked on my K9.
They're both excellent. Derek was a liquidator for Big Dog back in the day. When they went under he bought literally everything from them, so they have a ton of NOS (new old stock) parts which is great. They've also taken on several of the companies that made different parts for Big Dog and that's why we're able to get new PCB boards and the new starter housing he's doing etc. He has some other cool stuff in the works he was telling me about to help solve some other issues with the bikes. Great team there.It is an easy fix, I just wasn't paying attention to what I was doing...or wearing my glasses...

Absolutely necessary. I want as bright as possible, especially when stopped, and every state requires the lights activate when a brake is used.I am wondering if it's really even necessary to have. When do you ever stop without using the rear brake?
I suppose you could argue sitting at a stop light with your feet down but your already stopped at that point.

Gotcha. I bought a couple new magnets that go into the lever. But after that I broke the piece that goes into the perch. I just saw wildsteedworx.com is selling them for 14.50. Have to order it.I thought he was asking how to search, my bad.
Depending on the control, there is a tiny (and I mean tiny) set screw that you can access between the lever and the button housing. Put a tiny allen wrench in there and get it to sit in the allen set screw and loosen it just a half a turn or so, it should then let go of the switch that attaches to the PCB board. It's a cylinder that's about 1/8" diameter and 1/2" long with wires going to the PCB board. The magnet itself should be glued into the lever, if you don't have a magnet then that's your first issue. You can get one from Donna/Derek. When you reinstall the board and put the switch back have the bike on so you can set how far away from the magnet the switch is. Too close and your brake lights will always be on, too far and you'll either have to really grab some front brake OR you just won't have any light change when you apply the brakes. It's not as sensitive as it sounds, but it takes a little finesse to get it set back where it goes.
