riding

I love to just head out by myself, but riding with a few friends is better. I did not know anybody else with a bike when I was young, but as I decided to get back into it last year, learned many of my co-workers and friends had bikes. It's been great.

But add too many people and you quickly get divided into different speeds and it gets difficult to really stay together. My first group ride I learned immediately which end of the line I needed to be on. Once I moved up to the front it was all smiles. :)

This is an interesting question - I like both and here is why:

Solo - I can go where I want, when I want how I want. I need gas, I stop. I need to pee, I stop. I want to take a pic, so be it. If I have a problem, I am screwed.
Small group - I like a nice group of like minded folks that the only thing they care about is the road. I hate drama, I like when the road captain has a great route to ride, I like when most folks are the same skill level and have the same opinions/ability on riding. I rode with a small group sometimes 5 sometimes 10 but we rode 5-800 miles a day and it was great. Got to see lots of Texas. Then I have ridden with a group of 10-20 people (different group) and it was nothing but BS and drama. So it comes down to the folks you are riding with.
Large group - Charity rides. I accept that there are hundreds of people all different and I just ride with that understanding.

The gathering and BBBQ was fun. Got to see different people. I will not lie, it is very hard to get that many people to ride together and not have some issue (bathroom breaks are longer, getting through town, etc....) but again, we accept that the ride will be that way.

I like group riding a little more than riding by myself, even though I do a lot of that. We use to do a Thursday night ride, where about 40 of us got together from surrounding towns and rode till almost midnight. Now they just get together a couple time a month some where and bull shit for a couple hours and call it a cruse in.
I dug through my short stories and this looks like it will fit here.

It just depends, I like riding with big groups like we do with the gathering and when we go to blues bikes and barbecue , had a blast riding with Dave and Buffy , Colleen and 2 other riders around Sturgis last year in the Black Hills that was fabulous , Then there some days where I just want to get on the bike and ride by myself and just clear my brain , Had a blast when Chubs at a gas and me and H-man pulled over and waited with him to fuel up and the three of us road back from Lyons Kansas back to the resort at the gathering. It just really depends on the day, the group the riders, And how the fuck i feel when I wake up

I like to ride solo, but I did enjoy riding up to BBBQ with you.

I think solo is great and riding with a small group for me to enjoy means everyone needs to ride the same style. That includes speed is reasonable I like slow 2 lanes, stopping, enjoying lunch or and scenery along the route and the company your with.

Gotta agree with ya on the gathering ride, and probably the highlight for me, was the ride across country with you and H-man ! Especially running "hot laps" around that round-a-bout, and seein H-man's hat go kiting at 80 mph ! Great times, Great friends, Great memories !!
