I think it's really hard to explain. Without a doubt 100% I am a significantly more aware and cautious driver in a cage because I ride. It's really hard to explain to people who do not ride I think. You want to scare the shit out of a kid, stick him on a motorcycle on a busy highway - will never drive the same again.

Even in the cager I can usually tell you the make/model/colors of at least the 2 or 3 cars in front and the 2 or 3 behind me. So when they are not there anymore I can recognize it and make sure they are not right up on my 6. Which is a direct result of how I ride, if I saw a car and it aint there anymore I am wondering wtf is up.
