Damn, road to Jefferson TX this morning a good ride from Louisiana. Had lunch and a couple of beers and watched a Collage football game. Started back about 3pm. Damn! It was 98* and I swear I hit hot pockets that must have been 105*! Not fun!!

I know what you mean Jonathan. Here is what I have for those situations.:D

Works great, keeps you beverage iced down:cheers:, and lasts a few hours. So, a gas stop can be used to replace the melted ice (and your favorite beverage) as needed.:D

Convection cooking.

The heat index ramps up with the speed. Just like it gets colder the faster you go in winter with the chill factor.

Look for some evaporative clothing. The stuff really works.

Yep, made a run yesterday. Couple of friends wanted to ride a new route. Raceland La, to Alexandria, La then cut across to McComb, Ms then back down to Raceland. Total close to 500 miles. Started at 7:00 AM when it was still cool but between 10:00 and about 4:00 was "HOT". The "Mastiff" did well even in the heat, gas mileage was better than my friends new Harley Ultras and also did better than a friends Kawasaki Vulcan. Averaged around 43 miles to the gallon. Ride was good, thought I would be hurting today but only wind burn.

I have evaporative clothing and in our high humidity it doesn't work as well as circulating ice water. It does help but .....

I found that Texas isn't humid compared to Louisiana so evaporative cooling works better. At the ROT Rally in Austin there are a lot of those Porta Coolers but you won't find any being used in Louisiana. My best friend who has an AC service rents out a 3 ton AC to cool people off in a small area. If evaporative cooling worked so great in Louisiana there would be an abundance of them around.

Just my observation

Holler at me next time y'all head to Alexandria. I'm in Shreveport. I'll meet you at Renagade HD. My I laws are in Alexandria. We have a camp out on Lake Cotile and deer hunt about 1/2 way between Alexandria and Leesville.
