Riding at night with the H4 LED Light from Wild Steed Worx

2 weeks before heading down to the Redwood run my HID light failed for the 4th time and could not locate another bulb. I was ordering a couple of other items from Curtis at Wild Steed Worx, and mentioned my early AM start was going to suck as I only had the choice of using low beam with my burned out HID or sticking a stock bulb back in. Curtis recommended ordering WSW's new H4 replacement LED light. I was a bit hesitant as the "OLD" HID light was a great light (when it worked), yet I always felt it needed something. So I had WSW include one with the order.

I was working 7 days a week and with no time to work on the scoot, Brew recommended a local shop that could put some new tires on as well as a couple of other jobs I needed done. Got the scoot into the shop and they said would get to it when they could. The Wild Steed parts were here in an amazing 2 days and the local shop got the bulb in and I picked up the Mastiff just prior to the start of another adventure.

Got some sleep, and at 0130 Wednesday morning I headed south hoping to be near Sacramento that afternoon. I have no issues riding at night (Manage and drive commercial trucks at night for work) and was looking forward to clearing Portland before rush hours.

Riding through Tacoma / Olympia there is a lot of road lights and city glow and all was good till south of Olympia where I was getting tired and did not really think to much about the lack of light on the road. Running this section of I-5 down into Oregon is like a lot of places, your running a Deer gauntlet. Pulled into a rest area to clean off the headlight as I could barely see the road and had very little reflective light. Light was clean and while tired, I was not THAT tired. I ended up riding the darker wooded sections on I-5 next to the most dangerous place to ride, next to the semi trucks and van trailers for protection from animals and so I could see from their lights. Thought about stopping at a rest area and getting some sleep till day light but that would mean getting into the Woodland / Sacramento area after dark and I am not familiar with that area, so I pressed on.

Got into Woodland, hooked up with Curtis and the group about 4pm. Next day we all rode NW over to the coast and up the Redwood run. Completely forgot about the light issues till a couple days later Curtis asked about the light. Told him I could barely see and told him about my trip down. So we turned his on and looked at it, then did mine and he said your Adjure is burned. Sure as shit, it was glazed! Nothing to be done about it there.

I left the run about 9am in warm California sunlight, got dark and cold just South of Salem Oregon. Heading north in in the dark of the night, rain hitting hard, flat out cold and very hard to see, arrived home about 1:30am in rain and temp in the upper 30's.

Have since picked up a new Adjure from Curtis and WSW's latest version of his LED light and this light is definitely what I needed for riding at night. No seeing eye dog needed at night now. Bright white light with a hint of blue, I am not missing the problem prone HID light of the past. This light has long distance reflection capabilities and I see deer eyes way out past the danger zone. Low voltage draw, low heat, long lasting, and perfect for riding, a bright light. This LED light is what needs to come standard on all Motorcycles.
Want to see better than ever?
Pick up the Wild Steed LED light, and if you ever had a HID light, do yourself a huge favor and shit can your burned Adjure and pick up a new improved one from WSW.
My buds no longer want to ride in front as they do not want my headlight in their mirrors.

Back to riding at night with confidence!

Pics will be coming when I get the starter back in.

Adding the Cruise Mate and now this LED light with new Adjure are the best mods I have done on my hound. :choppersmiley::choppersmiley:

I did the same thing Knotso, when my HID went out. I ordered the LED kit from Curtis and never looked back, by far the best light I have ever used on a bike thus far. BTW, I have a brand New 8000, HID that I never used if your interested.

I went to PIAA | Xtreme White a couple years ago and I was happy because they are "vibration resistant".... I am still on the first one I installed 2 years ago...

Now.... it really can be much brighter than those? the more light the better.... in winter its already dark at 1700 hrs here!

PIAAs are definitely bright but I think the LED is brighter. Plus you get the added benefit of no heat, lower electrical system wear due to drastically lower amperage and wattage draws and a light that isn't vibration resistant it is simply "Vibration Proof". WSW's LED is rated for 35,000 hours of continuous normal operation.

How much lower is the wattage draw when if you have an EHC, the wiring harness needed basically adds a high power resistor to increase the current draw to stop the ehc thinking the low beam is out?

You guys crack me up sometimes.
I'm all for helping and giving but I can't give everything away.
I spent some time locating this company and working on the product to get it to work with BD. Its bad enough we have other vendors stealing my ideas and then claiming they are better and trolling my site so they can offer it at a lower price than us.

Sorry this morning has started rough for me.
