Ridgeback

I'm getting ready to order either a Ridgeback or a K9. The problem that I am having is deciding on a solid color or graphics. I'm really leaning toward the dark cherry but that blue is killer as well. Is there a good site that just has gobs of pictures so I can get an idea of how a graphics/color go together???

My other problem is convincing myself to commit to a hardtail. Does a hardtail beat one up that bad??? The dealer near me does not have an '08 or newer ridgeback for my to test ride. They have an '05 ridgeback but I'd like to ride one with the 330 on it. I am tempted to just go for it and skip the test ride...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions....

FREEDOM!!!
If you haven't ridden a ridged before you really owe it to yourself to spend some time in the saddle before you spend some serious cash. The looks are absolutely killer but the ride isn't the same as a sprung bike if that's what you're used to.
Also what is the primary use of the bike? Bar-hopping, cross country cruising, commuting to work? All can be done on a hardtail, it's just that rigids are an acquired taste. Not for everyone.

Either you are a rigid guy or your not. Do you remember riding in that little red wagon as a kid over the sidewalk cracks? Test ride one before you spend 30k. I'm not cool enough to ride a hardtail. I want to enjoy myself.

I absolutely love my 2005 Ridgeback, and better than my 2004 Ridgeback that I had before it. Someday a 330 Ridgeback will replace this 2005.

I enjoy the feedback of riding a Ridged. I have rode a K9 and it feels mushy or maybe like a 1970 Buick!!! :)

Love the Ridgeback and had never had an issue with the body after a ride till this week. Don't ride with a full bladder, at least on Michigan roads. Damn intestines were so sore I thought I was going shit them out. Took about 4 days to realize that I wasn't going to need any medical attention. Now I'm ready to get back on :cheers::cheers: Just piss piss piss :D

Not sure where you are located but I was in Big Dog of Orange County today and they have a 2008 blue Ridgeback on the floor for $23,400. I was in the area on business and stopped in the shop. Friendly guys. Cool open air showroom.

To share my experience, I bought an '08 Ridge in July. My other bike is an HD Heritage Springer (softail) that I have put about 45K miles on. I had taken a test ride on a '05 Ridge for about a half hour. I was sold on the Ridgeback after the test ride. From a visual point of view, I love the clean line of the frame vs. the swingarm/struts of the K9. There's no doubt that a bike with rear suspension will be more comfortable but that does'nt mean you can have a great experience on a rigid. On decent roads, it feels great. I will admit that if you hit a pothole without seeing it coming... it will get your attention. The thing that was surprising to me was the feel of acceleration. When you twist the throttle, there's no rear shock compression so the bike fires off like a rocket.

One big consideration would be whether or not you plan to ride two up often. K9 would be much more comfortable for your passenger.

All of that being said, if I were doing it again I would buy my Ridge again!

Its totally up to you of course but I love my Hardtail and if I could afford it I would buy another Ridgeback.I've put many miles on mine and have NEVER regretted it...I love My Hardtail...These Bikes are so long and the tires are soo Big you can adjust air pressure and the Flex on the frame seems like a Shock anyway...Except when you hit a pothole or something you would feel no matter what you were on..Although i would say K9 would have better Resale if your not gonna keep it forever like I am mine..

had o5 and o6 ridgeback test drove k9 and ridgeback with the big 300 tire on back not much difference.but there alot cheaper in price.i like the back fender on ridgebacks better.you see more tire.i will agree with others after a while my hands do go asleep.i might just be getting old.hardtails are alot different with small tires.i rode one in the 70s ,a crack in the road would go right to your kidneys.gotta love the hardtail look..

Thanks for all of the replies. I test rode both a K9 and a ridgeback. I actually liked the ridgeback better even though I went over some rough roads.

Now I just have to decide on color and/or graphics. Anyone have any pics of a dark cherry with either a ghost or smoke flames????

I also preferred the carb to the efi k9....

Shouldn't be the only factor, but might want to take into account if you plan on riding much with wife/girl friend on the back? I am leaning towards the K-9 for my next bike...so the ole lady will be a little more comfortable. I aint whipped by any means, but happy wife = happy life!

I purchased an 06 ridgeback in February of this year. It was my 1st rigid. I had to get use to it. I'm very use to it now. I'll ride it anywhere like a bat outta hell! Louisiana has some bad roads and believe me, bad roads and a rigid will make you shit on yourself if you aren't paying attention to what you are doing. But I would buy another rigidback anyday. I love the lines on the ridgeback. But it's really about what you're comfortable with.
