ridgeback handle bars

I have a 05 ridgeback with 1,200 miles on it and the handle bar bushings are worn out! I can move the bars up & down about 1/4". I ordered a new bushing kit from BDM and was wondering if I can replace this with leaving all the controls connected or is more difficult than that? Has anyone else had this same problem with their bars??
Thanks!

I've got a 2007 Pitbull, assume the set up is the same, just loosen both handlebar bolts, take one bolt completely out, pivot the handlebars, replace the bushings, replace the bolt leaving it loose, pivot the bars again, take the other bolt out repeat replacement, takes about 10 minutes.

My bike only has 2400 miles, the bushings were good, I just wanted to try rubber bushings to see if some of the vibration disappeared, they helped some and are still in place....to me the rubber feels a little loose but the speedometer doesn't vibrate as bad.
