Riders Edge

My GF is taking the Riders Edge course, and just did the first day of riding. She did dump the bike and she's ok, but when she got home tonight, she said she had a new level of respect for my riding. I've been riding since I was 12, and it's like breathing to me (hope that makes sense). And I actually refused to teach her to ride because of that fact. I felt that I would forget important details that are so second nature to me. And I really don't need her learning my bad habits either. She's going to ride my stretched out sporty for a while, and when she is ready, she wants a Wolf. I hear that they handle very well, but I'll need to ride one and see if I think she can handle it.

good for her. Dropping the bike isn't the worse thing she could do either - she now knows its not the end of the world if it happens. Lisa dropped the bike 4 times whilst she was learning - no stopping her now.

Yep, me and my wife had a similar experience. I've been ridin' for 30 years and my wife just recently took the course at the Harley dealership about 30 miles from here. She didn't just lay it down once but also wheelied it over. They were callin' her the wheelie queen. She finished the course passed her license test and within a month has moved up from her sportster to my VRod. I don't think she'll ever try the K9 however, her arms are to short.

Good for her. Just like you I sent Glenda to the riding school. She was doing great with the course until one day I pulled up on my "big chopper" and all the students are staring and Glenda is on the course and screwed up her ride. So I decided I better leave so the students could focus.

The Wolf is a great bike, I rode one last month. But she should get some miles on first under her belt first. That thing is long and not your average bike to control. Good luck to you guys and we'll see ya on the road.

Here is Knotso on the Wolf:

It's official... She passed. Apparently she's a bit more hurt than she led on yesterday though. But I did tell her that she would hurt more today than she did last night. The instructors told her that she's hardcore because they could tell that she was in a lot of pain, but it didn't stop her.

Where did she take the class? My wife is interested in learning but has not done it yet.

Patriot HD in Fairfax, check with your local HD dealers, I'm sure one of the local dealers there must have the class.
