The northeast has been sweltering this summer and I was wondering if you any of you ride in shorts? I was very tempted this past weekend (98 degrees here in NJ), but I Just couldn't do it...its just not right to me.

If I am just messing around town, I have no problem with it, after all, it is like 100+ with matching humidity and dew point levels down here so all the air flow you can get is nice! Wouldn't do it out on the open road though, but that is just personally for protection purposes.

As for the "real bikers will laugh at you", what is the definition of a "real biker?" Personally, if you own a bike, enjoy the ride and the freedom, then you are a real biker. I personally don't care what you wear or even if you put a windshield on your Dog. (you know that will stir things up :D)

Don't be afraid of what other people think of you, it is your bike and your life, do with it what YOU want to and be thankful you have that opportunity?

Yep, shorts here too...got the healing burn mark right below my right calf. And don't forget the occasional bee up the shorts stinging your ass!

Yeah, it's all fun and games until a bee flies up those shorts!!! Actually, that's where the fun would begin!

Yep, shorts all day Saturday at Carlisle Bike Fest. Was to hot to throw jeans on. As for the burn, I have the mark from 3 weeks ago. A new trick, I cut an old brown cotton sock about 3"(no nylon) and slid it up over my usual burn area. Works great for those occasional brush ups setting at a light.. My buddies laughed last week, this week, two others were sporting the sock, May not look cool to the REAL bikers, but it worked and we were much more comfortable all day riding and walking in shorts. Might have to invent the muffler sock with a Big Dog Biker emblem on it, then sit back and watch the money roll in. :D

No shorts, but there are the convertable cargos that have the zip off , below the knee pant leg, safe on the bike, comfy off the bike.

This is a new day and age....on my way up the road on Saturday I seen them in shorts with fuckin flip flops on .........I tryed goin to the store real quick one day in my Levis cargo shorts and damn if I didnt burn my leg,so wheni went to carlisle this past weekend i rode in long pants and as soon as we got there I took my pant off and put my board shorts on,thats the only thing that allowed me to walk the grounds and not fall out.......

Hell yea, do it all the time, white socks and sneakers too. Its all about comfort and I don't give a shit what other people think. If I had to wear all the gear I wouldn't be riding. You only burn your leg once and you will remember it for life when dismounting.

Yup, do it every now and then when it's real warm out. Lets face it. If it's more than a driveway spill denim won't help much anyways. Now as for the bee's I think Steve covered that!
