Replacing tranny seals-Need advice

Hey Guys,
I'm replacing the tranny seals on my 01 Mastiff. It's a 5 speed left hand drive and I think it's a Baker transmission. My questions are.....

1. I want to replace the main input and output seals and the shifter seal on the tranny, and the jackshaft seal on the inner primary. Are there any other parts I should replace while I'm in there?

2, Will I need any special tools other than the 1-7/8 deep socket for the belt pulley?

3. Any tips about removal or re-installation of any parts?

4. Will Harley parts work on the Baker? (I've heard that inside diameters are different)

5. Who makes the best repair manual for my bike and where do I buy?

6. Would you like fries with that?

I once contacted Baker asking them for Seals for my 2006 Mastiff. I had just replaced the Primary with a Baker Open Primary. When I did I did not replace the front or main shaft seal. They gave me the part number I was looking for and told me I would have to get the parts from the a BDM dealer. They would not sell parts or seals to me. I never did replace that seal, the oil was leak I had proved to be primary oil I didnt properly clean from the charging system during the installation of the open primary.

I would just go to the dealer and ask to get all the seals made for that tranny and go from there.

Thanks Carlos! The local BDM dealer is completely clueless. Nice guys, just clueless. They're having to call BDM for part numbers?!?!? I found another local BDM certified mechanic and Baker dealer. He told me that if I didn't shim and align the tranny when I replaced the seals I would have the same problem soon after. He's the only one who's told me that. It also said to me that this guy knew what he was talking about. So I'm letting him do it! It's a 3 hour job and I'd spend over $100 just on the parts and the socket to remove the belt pulley. I like to do my own work, but sometimes......it just ain't worth it!

I know what you are saying when some jobs are too much. I just broke my front Piston on my Dog and last night I started stripping down the engine to pull it :bang:

Bummer dude! Good luck with that one. If you work on jet powered drones, I'm sure you can rebuild an S&S. I'm at my 10k service so I'm having the mechanic do what I don't have the tools for. I'll eventually tool up to do more myself, but sometimes......it just ain't worth the aggravation!
